Whats the good or best ammo for target shooting and plinking with Ruger SR22?

Hi Folks,

I have ordered Ruger SR 22 from Wolverine and it should arrive sometimes next week, as well I ordered 2 H3CR (25 round magazines) with it. I have read many different opinions and reviews on .22 LR ammo but still wasn't sure what would be the best choice.

Whats the good or best ammo for target shooting and plinking with Ruger SR22?

Please suggest.
 
I don't have a 10/22 but I love CCI mini mags in my marlin 795, but for cheapo bulk winchester m22 is not a bad ammo, fairly consistent but the odd flyers due to some underpowered rounds, best of luck with you new .22

Apart from buying premium stuff like Eley Tenex Match and the like you just have to try several brands/velocities and see what your rifle likes best.
 
So far, my go to is CCI standard velocity for decent price and good accuracy in my 10/22's. But every gun seems to prefer something different.

My Plinking with my SR22 is done with winchester m22's , they are advertized to feed good in higher capacity mags
I do not use them for precision shooting, but for red dot shooting at 25/30y they are perfect
 
I should say that the last batch of Cci Blazer I bought was the stuff that came in bricks with white plastic trays holding the cartridges. Awful stuff in my Sr22 or any semi-auto I've tried with lots of ftf's and fte's. I'm told that I got the inferior quality Cci blazer which was farmed out to another manufacturer.

Apparently the good stuff still made by CCI comes packed in clear plastic trays.
 
I don't have an SR 22 but my R597HB likes CCI Blazer and Minimags, Fed 525 Bulk, Win M22 with Win 555 having more misfires but not as bad as Win Wildcat. Remington rimfire ammo seems to be the dirtiest among the commercial non-target rimfire loads in the market.
 
My SR works with everything, but seems to really like Blazers for some reason. I have had more misfires with Winchester 555 than anything, but they work well feeding, etc.
 
On my way down from cottage, stopped to BassPro in Vaughn and get box of M22 and 1000 rnds of CCI mini-mags...lets see

BTW, very poor choice of stuff for Ruger .22 few steels lips mags and that's about it.( @ basspro)
 
Used HC3R mags

fired about 400 rounds of CCI Mini-Mag , and out of those 400 about 200 were stovepipe or FTE. one mag completely loosened up beyond usable during shoot.

Overall good mags, I think CCI mini mags arent good for this magazines. also 20 rounds per mag is more reliable that 25 ( less FTE or FTF).

will try another ammo .
 
Best ammo for target shooting you say?... Eley Tenex is what you want. Just be prepared to pay about .50c a round & cycle the action every time:~)
