Avoid Remington Thunderbolt - leads up all my handguns and my rifles within 30 rounds. Just got a batch of Winchester Wildcats and they appear to lead up my Browning Buckmark after about 200 rounds - have to test that out a little more. Also have problems with the Blazer in the bulk 525 box. On my last brick of two cases, and found they all have a very heavy waxy buildup on them that prevents proper feeding in most of my handgun magazines and 25 round mags for my 10/22's. They work fine using the 10 round Ruger 10/22 mags and in my Henry Lever. The wax is fairly easy to wipe off and feeds great in all my mags after that. Just not worth the $2-3 savings per brick for me.
The Federal bulk 525 pack was cheap, plenty accurate for plinking with my SR22 and my handguns, and fairly reliable - maybe 2-3 FTF's in a brick. Usually if I reload it and index the bullet so the firing pin hits a spot opposite from the first strike it will fire. Had great luck so far with the American Eagle and Blazer 40 gr round nose lead ammo that are packed 50/tray. Feeds well in all my mags, and the only ammo I have so far that works well with the 50 round bulldog drums. They are just a bit more expensive than the Federal bulk pack and my fingers get a little dirtier loading mags.
Have some CCI Standard Velocity, didn't notice a lot of difference in accuracy at 17 yards compared to the Federal and American Eagle. Was only able to do a test in my local indoor range. Would expect there to be some difference at 50+ yards, but have to find a range and the time to do a test. Very reliable ammo. Feeds well in all my mags and maybe 1 FTF over 2 or 3 bricks. But it is 15-25% more expensive than the American Eagle and Blazer ammo.
Note: I found polishing the bolt in my SR22, especially the underside that occasionally comes in contact with the top of the magazine feed lips really helped reduce the number of FTE's & FTL's, especially when using the 25 round mags. I originally thought my FTE's & FTL's were caused by the occasional under powered round, but found that the weight of a full 25 round mag would sometimes tilt the seated mag and press the top of the feed lips against the bottom of my bolt. Still run across the occasional under powered round, but FTE's and FTL's in my SR22 down to 2-3 a brick compared to 1-2 per 25 round mag.
