Whats the hardest kicking gun you ever fired?

My #1mkIII *will* be the hardest kicking.

Now I understand why people call my .22 a peashooter!

Laf, that thing will be a pussy cat, .303's nothing to worry about by any measure, in fact it's downright mild. Give an Ultra Mag, .458 Win Mag, or a lightweight H&H etc a whirl and you'll be shooting your .303 with a big grin and stroking it appreciatively. :p

My 375 H%H Ackley kicks pretty hard loaded up with 300 gr RN.

Also shot a 45/120 Sharps, with I think 400 gr pills, a different kind of recoil...but the set trigger got me, i just touched the 2nd trigger, and boom!

Ruger no 3 in 45/70 which was quite punishing because of the stock, also I had a Ruger no 1 in 45/70 which was a pleasant rifle to shoot, maybe the difference was in the weight as well as the stock design!

The worst fitting (hence highest perceived recoil) rifle that I own is a CZ in 416 Rigby. After 5 or 6 shots, you just have to take a break! As a fair comparison, my TRG-S in 338 Lapua is not near as bad. I can fire it from prone and group in 5 shots at about 10", which ain't too bad for a fat little guy not using a sling!

I have a Savage in 300RUM. Its got a light syn stock and a barrel thats thin. I fired 4 rounds through it in one sitting. Been in the back of the cabinet ever since.

My first inline .50 cal w/400 grain conical and 120 grains or pyrodex off a bench. Felt my shoulder pop, and and a searing pain start at my shoulder, all the way down to my big toe of my right foot.

That freakin hurt.

Hardest kicking sporting rifle was a friends 458 in a Ruger M77, scope got me in the nose and recoil put me on my but.

Hardest non sporting rifle was a .50 BMG I built in my gunsmithing days using a surplus machinegun barrell... probably the heaviest rifle I have ever held and it pretty much made you dizzy to shoot. We estimated that you would be guaranteed a first round hit on a man size target out to almost a mile.

Absolute biggest kicker ever is a 105mm Leopard tank round. Not shoulder fired <grin> but it sure rocks a 46 ton vehicle.

Both of my guns tickle a bit...particularly the 444 Marlin. I sighted it in at the range a few months ago and I was pretty sore the next day.
Still probably pretty tame compared to other's out there.

375 H&H in a Sako L61R.

Factory loads and brutal. The scope left a small mark in the eye brow area. I have since sold the gun and bought another Sako in the same caliber but this time will probably have it magna ported and install a limbsaver recoil pad.

I shoot regularly 300 WM and find it to be somewhat comfortable. I have a 338 WM but have not fired it yet - can't wait to see how it will compare to the 375. I also acquired recently a 300 Weatherby Magnum and might convert it into a 340 Weatherby and this should be interesting.

105mm Howitzer at Charge 7

This thing fires about a 35 pound bullet and the recoil rattles your pantlegs. Good thing it wasn't in my shoulder :D

One time at a gun salute in Winnipeg at the Legislative Building, we were setting off car alarms in vehicles that were blocks away from us when we fired the blanks

As for handheld gun stories, some friends and I were firing my pistol grip 12g with 2 3/4 inch shells "Terminator Style" (one handed) at some targets.

A buddy of mine slipped a 3 inch Magnum into the shotgun unknown to me for when it was my turn as a joke.

When I finally got to the Magnum and fired it, the gun torqued upwards out of my hand and went a couple of feet up in the air. It was probably about 8-10 feet off the ground.

Everyone dove for cover, but thankfully no one got hurt.

Pretty stupid, but we still laugh about it :D

So far for me it was a friends #5 Enfield jungle carbine...I don't know what they did to that design in the day, but they are freaky kickers IMHO. :D

Second up is my ill fated experiment of firing Slugs out of my 12 gauge using a Pistol grip...after 5 shots of slugs and 5 shots of 000 Buck something went "crack" in my wrist. :(

Needless to say the original Stock is back on the shotgun. :D

a friend of mine took a 12 gauge slug recoil w/ pistol grip right in the face...

it was pretty funny..

but yeah, that 12 gauge with slugs w/ pistol grip... im a girly man and I couldnt hold that thing for the first few rounds as it surprised me!
