Whats the hardest kicking gun you ever fired?

A Remington model 700 in 416 Rem Mag I chopped to a 19" bbl and replaced the split wooden stock with a black Ramline synthetic stock.
The gun weighs just shy of 8 pounds which is really light for a 416 Rem Mag.
Kicks like a f'n Clydesdale horse.
Second is my Marlin Guide Gun with the Buffalo Bore 430 grain hard cast lead ammo.
Kicks like a mule.

I used to have a NEF Turkey gun. 10g 3 1/2 "magnum 750 gr slugs. Boom!
As far as handguns, my Browning 1910 32 ACP. Tiny gun, but just something about it really hurts.

458 win mag followed closely by a 375 H&H. I also have a 460 weatherby but I have not fired it yet. Beautiful rifle. Think I will just look at it;)

The first Weatherby bolts in 460 Weatherby Magnum (WM) came with an integral Pendleton muzzle brake with the ports drilled into the last 2 inches of the barrel.
I imagine the recoil would be horrendous without a brake of some kind.
Fired a Weatherby bolt in 378 WM and it gave me a good punch.
The next two up are the 416 WM and of course the 460 WM.

I shot a friend's 50 BMG Ferett with a 22" barrel a few years back. Yeah, it's up there.

Recently I shot my 6.5 lb 10 gauge single shot. The recoil with 3.5inch 00 Hevi Shot was impressive indeed.
My 10 gauge BP loads make a mighty roar with billows of white smoke. But the recoil for the smokeless buckshot is much sharper.

If we could hunt with 8 gauge, I would own at least one of them by now.

By far the worst beating I ever received from a firearm was when my guide on a grizzly hunt let me fire a round from the cannon he carried to back up his hunters. It was an iron-sighted Ultralight Arms rifle chambered in .416 Remington Magnum that Mel Forbes had somehow trimmed down to 4-1/4 lbs. I have no idea why I accepted his offer to fire it, as I understand enough basic math to have known better.

To my credit, I did hit the rock I was aiming at some 200 yards away. At least, that's what the rifle's owner told me after I pulled the trigger. I was too busy seeing stars after I somehow ended up punching my face with my trigger hand. To this day, I've never thrown a better punch.

That rifle absolutely set the bar for me. The .458 Lott I picked up a couple years ago seems like a pop gun in comparison.

That must have been Jake Jefferson's rifle? It was being repaired when I hunted with him, if I remember correctly he was carrying it on a quad and a client ran into him and broke the stock.

When I was about 14, my uncle thought he'd let me have a go with his Rem 600 or 660 in .350 Rem Mag.
My experience had been limited to .177 air & .22 LR. Self taught. No idea about pulling into the shoulder, etc.
Fired 3 rounds. Massaged shoulder for the next few hours.
Beautiful gun, but I never got another chance as he sold is shortly thereafter.

I shot a few rounds of trap last summer with a friends old Winchester Ranger 1300 12 ga.

Even with light trap loads I was begging forgiveness. Needless to say, he really liked my 1100 with a Cutts Compensator.:D

Something about those 1300's. Fantastic ergonomics (for me at least) but brutal recoil. Ran a 200 round shotgun course with mine once... once...

I recently patterned some 3 inch hevi-shot goose loads from a 7 lb side by side, I would describe slugs and buck as "bearable" through the gun, which only has a hard plastic recoil pad. Inspired me to search for a dedicated waterfowl gun.

Worse than any magnum I have fired though the 416 rigby win70 and 500 s+w handi rifle hot loaded come to mind.

Great post! Not too often I actually LOL.

My dad has a 338 Win Mag with the old school Ruger weatherlight plastic stock and the narrowest pad I've ever seen on a rifle. Not the worst kick but the worst pain inflicted was felt by that demon.

Ruger .338WinMag! Me too! The absolute worst for me. I won't touch anything more than a .30 cal anymore!
