What's the latest on the CZ 858?

^^if your not trolling and you actually don't know,

the VZ 58 is a completely different rifle to the AK series of rifles, No parts are interchangeable, there are NO similarities except for the ammo and maybe some mild visual similarities if you don't look too close, other than that they are NOTHING alike.

the VZ is more accurate, and better made IMO. the AK is cheaper and easier to make and has more history. I prefer the AK just for its history, but I also love the VZ. you should read up on VZ 58's for much more fascinating info!

CZ, CSA, etc are all just different brands building replica VZ 58's, as far as quality amoung the replica's goes, everyone seems to have their own idea, I have a CZ-858 and it works great. no issues whatsoever.

Thank you for your answer. Since they prohibited the AK and not the VZ I automaticly assumed the VZ was a downgrade from the AK.

The only thing i know is when they start buying these back i will personally chuck mine into the smelter

the government will never buy these back. if they are reclassified it wont be the rcmp's fault as they didn't screw up. its the importers fault. the importers can foot the bill since they ####ed up will be the attitude of the government. also the buyback would cost to much money.

I'm pretty sure that's the attitude they're gonna try to take regardless of the firearm (i.e. SAN's). I mean - no one said they gotta buy back any firearm.

Don't misunderstand me here - I'm one of the guys with a couple SAN's and a KRISS.

Yeah, I know - with luck like that, why on earth do I continue to buy lottery tix ....

I wonder if the RCMP seized any 858's in High River... If so, those would likely be held until "the impending decision" has been made, regardless of whether the owners had paperwork to retrieve them. Boy oh boy, I hope Harper reforms these goons, I fear the possibility of Trudopia making a final visit and using these RCMP tools to turn us fully socialist.

Yeah, I have preferences. #### me, right?

Don't pull that card.

Nothing wrong with having preferences. You can collect nothing but pre-1900 lever actions if you so desire, I don't care. What is problematic is doing it because you're afraid big brother is going to take away anything black or scary. The only way to preserve our right to own some of the more "classification prone" rifles is to buy them and become politically active in defending our right to keep them. Not buying a gun because some hoplophobic socialists in Ottawa want to take it from you doesn't help our community or you in the least.

^Or your SKS.

Ah yes my poor neglected sks. Sometimes I forget about my old gal since I got the cz. It's a real shame last time I had her out I was hitting an old 20L propane tank 3 outta 5 times at 300m kneeling and pretty rapid firing. I impressed myself with that little rifle. But back on topic haha

And yet when they reclassified the BD38 just recently they did in fact compensate owners. I think the current government is a little more in tune with property rights than the previous lieberal ones.

I agree that the government is a little more in tune with us shooters for now. However the BD38 was improperly classified by the rcmp to start with. Their fault not the importers.

Also the payout for the few that made it to market was trivial compared to what it would cost to buy back all the 858's.

I stand by my opinion that there will be no buy back of any kind if the 858's should happen to change classification. However if im wrong in this regard, it won't be a entirely bad thing.

I've been following this thread from the beginning since I have skin in this issue as well having had one back ordered for more than 5 months. All I'm looking for is factual information in the hope that someone has accurate information. For those still perpetuating the reclassification talk please read post 231 on page 14 of the "reclassification thread in the Wolverine Forum. That post contains an official reply from the RCMP to a reclassification information request by Faith Goldy. While you are at it post #135, 143, 253, 292 and 303 will address more of these concerns. I've emailed Wolverine several weeks ago and they have not been able to supply any more information but I was hoping that someone might have an update by now since there are 2 shipments of these (Dec 2012 and March 2013) currently held by customs.

Sigh... Makes me wonder if we should have just kept the registry, keep the liberals happy, maybe there would have been none of this reclassification shiat.

Seems like things are actually going to get worse as opposed to better for us.

I'm voting conservative, not too happy about them either lots of fraud and white collar criminals in there, but what else is there...

I'm sorry-but the Lieberals are still the Lieberals-it doesn't matter if the registry is alive or not...they want to "protect us" against everything...
