Alot of '858' 's will be prohib in the future, so might want to move away from those options, just in case.

Also, someone should chime in for the weight of a x39 valmet.. Lose the wood stock for a folder and it might fit the bill (well ok, lots of bills).

I second a Cz858 with folding stock for the lightest, however I would go with a CSA vz58 you are wanting to mount an optic.

Chinese SKS with wood stock and the useless bits removed: 7.5 pounds
Both have good balance. If I was hunting I would want the cheek weld of the normal stock on the cz858.

Yep, SKS was used by Russian professional hunters for years and still sold over there as a hunting carbine.
