What's the matter with my BT-99?

I thought I would post this here rather than the gunsmith section; being the Browning BT-99 is a trap gun.

I recently purchased this gun and fired about two cases of shells to date, all being "target" loads. Yesterday I noticed the bottom of the forearm is not mating flush with the bottom of the receiver. Also, the gun seemed to 'bind' a couple of times when I attempted to open the action. I had to fully close the action then on the second attempt, the action opened normally. This could be normal (tight) because the gun has seen little use, or so I was told.

I don't have any reason to believe the gun was misrepresented and the forearm/receiver misalignment was not noticed until now. All screws seem to be tight. Any suggestions other than "return it to the dealer". Thanks.

Have you broken the gun down and checked the hinge point. If that joint was flush when you bought it then I think you have a warranty issue to sort out. There isn't much at that joint to go wrong.
Gun has been broken down more than a few times by me trying to determine what the issue(s) are. I took the gun to another dealer that I happened to be driving by today. I was told this so-called misalignment was normal and showed me two shotguns costing several times more than the BT-99 that looked the same. Two other customers in the store that happened to overhear my plight confirmed what the shop employees said. So it turns out I have an non-issue. I feel better now.

My Beretta 682 isn't quite flush; nor is my Zoli Z-Sport; nor is my wife's Browning 625 Sporting; nor is my old Antonio Zoli "Africa Special". In fact the only one I have that is flush in my old 20ga Browning Superposed, as it doesn't use the same hinge design.

I was use to seeing everything tight & flush like on my Browning O/U. It was a little disconcerting to see the bottom on the BT-99 not quite the same. I know now that is normal for the 99 and many other makes of shotguns as well.

To answer the other questions; only light target loads were used and all the recommended areas were properly lubricated. The "binding" was not binding at all, just a "like new" tight shotgun.

The wood to metal fit is normal. The binding could also be a firing pin that is a hair too long and is sticking in the primer... do you ever see punctured primers?

That is something I didn't think of. If it happens again, I will certainly take a closer look. Thanks for the tip.

That picture looks right to me. As for the binding I cannot say? Take it apart, give it a good cleaning, check to make sure nothing is getting caught between the chamber face and breech wall and lube the hinge pin and any spots where the action touches the receiver sides.

Had my Browning BT-99 out yesterday and the gun functioned flawlessly. I can't say the same for me; I still haven't broken 25 straight yet (24 multiple times).
Thanks for the tips and suggestions.
