Whats the most durable paint for a barrel??

I had 1 of my rifle barrels coated in Boeing impact resistant engine cowling paint when I was working at Air Canada.I had a stock painted with it on another.

If you do follow someone’s advice and paint the barrel can you also take a minute and add a before and after pic to the thread. Then we can pat you on the back or kick you on your ——-

Sure, i have decided to rattle can it.



I bought a can of high temp (2000 degrees) auto-engine paint in flat black so we'll see how it goes.
It's just a 10/22 build but hopefully it holds up to at least a little abuse.
Can always re apply.

I do all of our barrels and actions in Duracoat. It is one of the easiest to apply. Prep is the key. Even cheap hand held sand blasters can key the metal OK to get the paint to hold well. I have some field rifles that have been sprayed tens years ago and still look perfect. Trick is to oil and wipe off the surface after a few days of curing.
