Whats the most expensive sks you ever saw for sale

I saw a guy at the Kamloops gun show a few years back with 5 "hand picked" Russian SKS's going for $550. They were black bolt/black bayonet refurbs that you can pick up at Lever Arms for $299. The sad thing was, that by the end of the day, he had 2 left.....

I have a 49 sks for 2000.00 bucks. would you even inquire about it ?... of coarse not, let them gloat in their own delusions. offer 200 tops and see what happens. Chances are youll get the rifle.

$2000? No. But considering that I've seen a 49 disappear instantly on the EE for twice the amount you suggested, I'd say $200 is a joke as well. A $200 '49 non-refurbed SKS is not going to sit for long @ $200. Look, anything is worth what supply & demand suggests it is worth. In the case of guns, its not just a matter of how many or few were made, but how many are available in Canada, since 'supply' is as much an issue of 'imports' as it is 'quantity in existence'.

Changes like we see more recently, where many non-refurbs are showing up on dealers shelves, will obvious affect the value.

Some people see collectible value where others do not. A non-refurb '49 in truly pristine shape has an unknown exact market value, but positively it would be worth north of $2000 to a few people. Early, original and clean Russians are sleepers.

D models that take the AK magazine can go for around $500-$700. Although one of our customers told me he sold a Rusky for $1,400.00 loaded with parts from
our website. Told me this over the phone while he was ordering more of the same items to do it all over again.

I bought 5 Norinco model D's (AK mags) and 5 crates of ammo (6000 rnds) from Lever Arms in the mid 90's for $1500 all in. Promptly sold 4 of them unfortunately. Ammo alone goes for that now, same silver boxed Norc stuff too, lol.

Prices keep going up, eventually at some point any SKS it will sell for $1000.00 each. It's just a matter of time, as the surplus starts to dry up.
It's happened with the Lee-Enfields and almost everything else before them, it also depends on where they are being sold.
One of our customers told us that SKS's are going for $2,000.00+ in Lebanon right now for a bare bones, plain Jane version.
AK's can sell for over $4,000.00+ there and the basic SKS sling is worth about $200.00, Crazy.

Im sick of people calling the SKS a P.O.S. gun. The SKS is a very underated gun. It is very reliable it is more acurate than the AK which replaced it. It was designed to be simple its not fancy it does the job. In war we don't have bench rests and all the time in the world to aim you are moving and shooting so get off your high horses and respect the SKS. If it was a P.O.S. they would not have made 20000000 of them used by over 20 countries.

Dont get the wrong idea. I love my SKS. As a brilliantly simple piece of engineering I think it must rank among the very best.
The gun is almost perfect. Minimum parts,massive tolerances and virtually indestructable. I know that any SKS is capable of inflicting a major "owwy"at 2/300 meters. I might not be able to shoot the eyeballs out of a Zombie but Im definitely gonna hit it, just what it was designed to do. The SKS will still be going bang long after the AR's etc have all gone tits up.
My original post was aimed more at the guys who buy a 299 buck SKS and then proceed to bubba the hell out of it with optics and stocks and mags etc. Ive seen SKS's that must have had close to a thousand bucks of accesories added.Then they are up for sale and trying to get their money back.
My SKS is a keeper for sure,I shoot it,giggle, cleanit oil it and throw it under the bed till the next time............and it always goes BANG......always
Definitely the first thing Id grab on the way out of the door in a hurry.....and I have a choice of four other types.

hahahahah i saw the 2nd one on here, i just sat and shook my head............."she/her" is worth more to that guy than his wife by the sounds of it......i just bought a barebones for 150, add the extras and all that "time" to put on a Tapco skirt on "her" and i'd be into it for around 300...maybe inflation plays a factor or perhaps in his province they trade them for food??

ps apparently the tapco skirt makes it a Modern Military rifle as well......too fun
