Consider that the guns were $2700 to $3000 new, restricted. Then consider that it will cost probably a minimum of $600 to get the barrel changed. Now consider that there are no new ones coming into Canada. Are you going to let yours go for under 3K? Didn't think so.

Ahahahahahaha

A significant portion of firearm owners will not buy a $3,000 rifle let alone a $2,000 rifle. Another portion won't buy a polymer rifle for $3,000. I wanted to factor them into my research.

I'm with Blaxsun on this one.. Laugh2Laugh2

Anyways, this poll doesn't make any sense since you are asking everyone under the sun what they would spend on a gun -- even if you put 'FS2000' as the focus. You'll get a plethora of people answering who wouldn't spend $300 on ANY platform -- little own an FS2000. So, when you say this is for 'research', you have to take the polling result with little (if any) validity.

And yes, a few restricted versions just trickled up here, selling at $3000 a piece. Add in the non-restricted barrels, the gunsmithing required to get it into non-res status, and the shipping costs.. you will be almost reaching (if not exceeding) $4000.

If you're somehow trying to bring the FS2000 prices down... Laugh2 Due to the rarity of the platform, the costs will rise, not decrease. It's also darn-near impossible to import one by yourself out of the US, due to the stamping of the receiver.

Not sure I agree. Another import came in 3 months ago and Questar just sold the last rifle 2 weeks back - they didn't exactly fly off the shelf, either. They sold steadily at best.

IMHO there should be zero premium for the NR over the restricted version. To be frank, I would only use it at the range anyhow, so wouldn't pay a red cent more for a longer, less handy tube.

I also think they should be selling closer to US retail given the performance of our dollar.

A quick google search just now turned up at least 3 dealers selling them for $1499 new. Most places are hovering around $1650 stateside. Is a 100% markup for these rifles warranted given the US is importing them from the same place we are (for the belgian-made versions)? You decide.

FYI, US export permit is $300 for a rifle. If you've got the time and patience, import one of those $1499 rifles yourself for a bit under $2000 landed.

For the same reason that Colt 6920's are double the price up here. Hard to get permits approved, and buyers that will pay the premium. I am not saying that I think we should have to pay $2700-3000 for an FS2000. I am simply saying that is the reality of buying one in Canada. If in truth it's a $1500 rifle in Canada I will take 3. Who do I give my $4500 to?

But why were they that price?? Just Becuase?

It is a $1500 rifle.

It's a $1500 rifle in the U.S.

We are not in the U.S.

This subject has been d:h: many, many times. Pricing on guns is not merely a factor of $$ conversion. Factors such as export permits and availability go a long way towards a higher Canadian retail price. Yes, it sucks, but it's the way it is.
