I have a few racks on the wall, professionally done, but got me a decent buck on Wednesday. Now all I want to do is for lack of better terms, is nail it to the wall. I took the hack saw and cut it off at the base below the antlers. Should I keep the hair and skin on the base of the skull. Should I just let it dry out for a couple of weeks. Will the hair fall out eventually. Should I get rid of the hair and skin. I buddy of mine took all the crap off his antlers and just boiled it at the base of the antlers. I apologize for the millions of questions, I just have never done it this way by myself before. Thanx!

Since the antlers have been removed from the skull a European mount will not be possible.
Clean off the skull cap as best you can and order a plaque mounting kit from WSS, Cabela's or whoever. The kit comes with a nifty cover that will cover up the bit of skull you have attached to the antlers.

Actually, you don't need, or I say want, anything over the whitened skull, or portion thereof, that holds the antlers.
Skin the skull, or what you have left of it, and take off all the flesh you can easily get. Then find a pot that will hold the skull. Probably have to use some kind of camp stove in your garage, but cover the skull with water and boil it. Use something to keep the steam off of the base of the antlers as best as you can.
When it has boiled long enough to clean off all the flesh, take it out and cool it. Then use bleach on a cloth to whiten it.
The sparkling white skull looks great, directly onto a panneled wall, or a suitable type of rustic board, or block, whatever looks good to you.
