I'm so annoyed, by this that I have to post it here.
Can someone please tell me what the rifling on my Tavor barrel is?
Ok so my manual says 1 in 7, internet says 1 in 7, but two guys at Reliable are saying it's 1 in 9???

Why wouldn't you go with what the manual says?

I'm seriously wondering this.

No, no, no. Don't believe these guys or your manufacturer printed manual, always trust the counter jockey at your LGS, they know all.

Just in case my sarcasm isn't evident, the twist rate is 1 in 7.

Because the manual that came with my Tavor doesn't exactly match my Tavor, the mepro sight described, the flip sights and rails are different, thought maybe there was something else different with the barrel as well from what is described in the manual.

Fair enough I guess, but it should be noted that whenever there is a significant change in specifications (such as barrel twist), a new manual is usually included. The Tavors we're getting have only been made more optics friendly. I will also note that I have several manuals that do not perfectly match the rifle they came with, i.e. the manual I got with my Ruger 10/22 RSI and the manual I got with my SL8. My Swiss Arms also came with a manual that said rifles come in both 1 in 10 and 1 in 7 twist rates, but without telling me which one my rifle is. In these cases, you can easily measure the twist rate by yourself, it takes about 5 minutes.

Instead of coming here to ask the hoi-polio, why not just measure it yourself. It isn't exactly difficult to do. Not to mention of course that the functional difference between 1:7 and 1:9 for CDN shooters is virtually nil.

:agree:

Easy to figure out with a cleaning rod and a tape measure.

To check it, put a piece of masking tape near the handle of your cleaning rod, about two inches long, fold it in half with the rod stuck in between, it will make a little flag. Push the rod, with a brush, in the muzzle end until it catches the rifling. Measure how far the flag is from any fixed point on the gun, the. Proceed to push the rod until the flag makes one complete revolution. Stop and measure the distance between the flag and the same fixed point you used the first time. If the difference is 7 inches then you have a 1 revolution in 7 inches if 8 then 1/8 etc. just make sure the rod is spinning with the rifling. It's quite easy and there is likely a youtube video or two on how to do it.
