Whats THE Ruger No.1 You Just Gotta Have?

If I had more $ than brain, I'd get NECG to build me a 20G #1 slug gun :p

A RSI in 303 brit if ruger ever makes one

Ruger did ..... produced somewhere between 5 and 10 of them. None of them made it north of our border.

They also did a run of 7.62x39 1A to offer yet another cartridge utilzing the excess barrels from the 1A 303.

#1 RSI would be relatively easy to produce in both 303 British and 30-40 as their slender forends would not have to be modified.

Without redesigning the forends it would be tough to chamber a RSI in cartridges that require a larger barrel diameter

I have owned over 100 No.1's... only have five now... and the No.K1-H Stainless/Laminate .405 Winchester will be sold soon. I have an RSI in 7X57, a No.1-A in .30-30 and .35 Whelen and a No.1-S in .45-70.

I probably said this earlier in the thread, but if Ruger (Lipsey's) doesn't get around soon to making a No.1 in .348 Winchester, I am going to do it myself... either an RSI or a No.1-A.

I'd be happy to see that if for no other reason than it will mean a new supply of brass and components on the market to help feed my Model 71!

Would be cool , but that possibility ship has sailed, somewhere in the 90's when #1 where at their heyday it might have been possible.

Now they are not in regular production not much of a chance, there is considerable mechanical modification to make a #1 capable of firing a rimfire cartridge.

A number of Gun smiths have modified #1 to rimfires.

Latest info from the Rugers Collectors Association there is no known factory rimfire #1

I had one in my hands. Ruger rep told me there were 18 of them and all went to ruger execs and charity auctions. No way to know if this guy was really 'in the know' about actual numbers made. The rifle I had my hands on was part of a charity auction at a booking show in Las Vegas. I tried to buy it for the shop but I stopped bidding at 2000.00. Back then we were selling the 1-A .303's at 1079.00-11999.00 and we had to pay exchange(although it was much closer then) as well as import, shipping, and actual profit. Stopping at 2000.00 seemed wise at the time.
