What's the shortest non-restricted 22lr semi-auto rifle you can buy?

10/22 is still the best option in my opinion. Best aftermarket support and best reliability (in my experience). There are ways to legally get larger magazine capacity as well.

Yeah but the TUF receiver is so expensive, I was looking into just buying a different rifle all together.

Lol, you are asking what is out there and available, and you are given the options, and then you "CRY" at the expense of the items.

LOL, go look up a 9" barrel for the 10/22.

There are a very few retailers that will put together a 10/22 platform that have shorter barrels, but they run in the $2K plus mark.
Buy the parts and put things together yourself, and guess what, you are going to be in the $2K plus area.

Apparently the tuff mags are pretty hard to find right now as well, so your options are even smaller.

You want a short barrel 10/22 with more than 10 round capacity, suck it up, and PAY UP BUCKOROO!!

Maybe not the shortest but the Savage A22 FVSR has a 16” heavy barrel and has the butler creek 25 round mags available.

I loved the A22 I had. Sadly I stupidly sold it awhile ago.

I took my 10/22 action out of the stock one time (one screw for those who know) and wondered why I couldnt shoot it just like that. Yes, No place to mount the mag, But made me wonder if something could be hacked. I wonder what the legality of that would be

Would be legal with a 20 inch barrel (give or take).

Looks like the Ruger Charger pistol stock will go right on a 10/22 . Now I wonder how legal that would be
Well because The Ruger Charger is just a 10/22 with a 10" barrel and no butt stock.

Would be legal, as long as you put on a 16.75" barrel, to make sure it is 26" OAL. Charger pistol is 19.25" Long with a 10" barrel.

Can it fire outside the stock? yes, is it under 26" OAL? yes, Then it is prohib if used in that configuration.

Stock has no function in retaining the magazine.

I remember seeing a 22 belt fed that was a miniature browning 1919
It was super cool but it was 5k!!!

AR Upper cost me about over 1500. With the extra belts, some spare springs, ammo holder etc back in 2012. Too bad it would jam alot. The razorback was built by the same company and is the same design as their 1919.
