Whats the smallest handgun we can get?

Geologist : "Beretta 71, alloy frame, accurate, light weight, small yet still fills the hand, reliable with most ammo, not finicky at all."

Exactly - easy access to the feed path and chamber - clip release is handier than on the bottom - takedown is simple - decent capacity - Ruger should make a .22 like it. Add a little more barrel and you have something like this Bersa which has a steel frame:

Oh - and here is a Beretta with a stretch.

MP5K : Well - I don't think that I have anything smaller - I wonder if there would be any problem with me making one and registering it as Prohib?

Some of these have gone away now.

Collossal : Go with what Kodiak says - HK P7

+1 on HK P7. Get the PSP, it's 0.2" shorter overall (as you'll discover if you buy the wrong holster) and up to 1/2 less than the cost of the M8, all for a sissy heat shield and a modified mag release. They do get warm, but it's a dry heat...

Whats the smallest handgun we can get? ; but I'd like to know what the actual one is not someone saying "yea it felt pretty small" :)
Please and thank you!

What ever your heart desires you can get. Every handgun made no matter how short the barrel is, is available right here in Canada. If you want a 2" barrel 38, no problem, if you want a 4" barrel 44 Magnum, no problem, all are available in abundance in all of Canada's major cities and a lot of the smaller ones too. I think you get it. I guess I am being an azz.

the Bond fires .45 COLT and .410 shotgun shells.

There, fixed it for you.

OH! I guess it should also be noted that I don't have 12 (6) LOL!

Don't let that stop you. Right, that legality thing again, its a shame we have to worry about that but it never seems to affect the criminals.

oooohhhh man; where can I get that beretta 71? rebarreled of course.... who sells em? ;)

They come up on the EE from time to time. Sometimes the steel framed Beretta 70 in .22 LR or 70s in .32 ACP.

Maybe a put a WTB in the EE. Someone bought a 71 and had the barrel modified to restricted and registered it as restricted. There's a post on CGN about it somewhere on CGN.

I don't think I could shoot any of these. I need a long grip. Don't think I could shoot well if 1/2 my hand was hanging off of it. Short barrel with a full sized grip, would work. Too bad I'm not grandfathered.

That is a very interesting article.

I am not in favour of killing people - or harming at all for that matter.

The .22 gives the option - in a defense situation, of smakin' the goon a couple of times, just to make 'im behave - and maybe pay attention to the issues that need discussin'. Logically - don't blow holes in walls, airplane structure and bystanders - or deafen yourself for life - shooting inside a room or vehicle is gonna make you stupid-deaf for ever.

This thing of DRT is alien to my way of thinking. Maybe the police have less ongoing issues if the perp expires, but the perpetual argument with self about whether I needed to kill is one demon-voice that I would rather be clean of.

The increasing likelihood that the perp is a chemical-stupid-zombie with a one-track motive ( boy - don't you hate the line that drugs don't hurt anyone?) - likely requires that a cop not give the guy a chance to live. One more thing which would lead to - uh - pre-emptive killing is the increase in Little-lady cops who would have good reason to fear for their life in the same situation that a big Irishman cop would have the perp wishing he'd gone to bible study with his folks.

Now - back to real - life - where the bunnies hop and the partridge strut and the little black circle sits on the post - I really don't understand why everyone sells 1/8 inch wide front sights on guns - is everyone shooting targets in the evening? These little Berettas - and lots of other little guns have nice fine sights that are much more precise than any of the target guns that I've tried.

ST1264 : The Berettas 71 / 948 have the little hook on the magazine that holds one more finger - and I think that this Bernadelli is a little longer yet - and the thumb-shelf helps too.

Revolvers are okay - here is one even smaller.

Another - with a longer barrel. Still 12.6 though.

And smaller - a piece of junk in .22 short.

And a little shorter maybe - junk - would be happy to trade it for a camera.

A K frame S&W model 12 Airweight, 6 shots, aluminum frame, only 20 oz empty and that smooooth old school S&W DA trigger pull and a very light, crisp SA trigger pull with a Tyler-T grip adapter. It would be a great carry piece. Very good for instinctive point shooting.
