I don't want a red-dot, because I find it imprecise (2MOA) and of course relies on battery.
Are you looking for weight or size as your big concern? .
not really...illuminated dot is easier to pick.up then black cross hairs.I don't want to use the iron sights for the same reason that people buy red dot sights - quick target acquisition. A nice T1 sized x1 non-red-dot scope would beat iron sights any day, and arguably a red-dot too.
Ok so staying with what you asked, the tactical scopes are what your looking for, an ultralight compavt scope.
Leupold has one, 8.5oz 3-9x scope. However it's $650+
I was thinking about getting it because of its weight and realistic 8x, but I gave my head a shake after looking at the price again!
I asked for reviews here but no one posted.
