Whats the smallest restricted handgun made ?

I believe it's the HK P7M8 and variants. By all accounts an excellent 9mm pistol but pricey and now out of production (you can still find them around). You will also find some small guns imported with a legal length barrel that protrudes slightly-to-significantly just to qualify for restricted status.

Slightly smaller than the P7 :).

"...the CFC decided..." They decided nor decide nothing. It was the Socialist F**ks who made the laws the way they are. Declaring under 4" barrels(plus .25 and .32 calibre handguns with some high priced exceptions. Originally, there were no expections.) evil wiped out a whole class of firearm with one law. Logic had nothing to do with it.

"I never understood why the CFC decided barrel length was what determined whether a handgun was a prohib or not..... I would have drawn a box on piece of paper and if the handgun fit inside, without touching the lines, then it is a prohib."

Sunray is right, the CFC does not make the law, our elected officials do.

Newby, I'm a little upset that as a gun owner you think anything should be prohib.!!!! Utter nonsense to think that banning an inanimate object would somehow make us all safer.

Their goal was not to remove small hand guns from the market. It was to remove a large, easily vilifiable group of guns from the market. So they chose a barrel length restriction which would prohibit the largest subset of handguns with the common 4" barrel length. This also prohibited all the police duty revolvers being phased out which otherwise
might have been transfered to the civilian market.

don't get me wrong......I do not support having any handguns prohibited, but if you were going to do it, at least use a fair process, if your goal is to remove small handguns from the masses, then overall size would have made more sense !

Your statement implies that you believe banning small pistols by over all size would be a "fair process". It also implies that banning something from the masses can make sense.

I don't believe any part of the war on personal freedoms can ever make sense.

bill c-68 et al was just the first phase of an over-all means of "rid" canada of ALL handguns- the next phase would have seen everything under 6 inches, as 6 inches could be called a "target" barrel- and then you can see where it goes after that- the only thing left would be 10 inch silohette barrels- the whole point was to make handguns "clumsy" enough to be unhandy and not easily concealed- they gooed up on the barrel measurement issue auto's vs revolvers though, with revolvers coming out second

We and those of the generation(s) before us made a HUGE mistake allowing ANY gun control in this country. We all know its total BS.
