What is it?

First of all, I have no clue of the value.

But, IMHO, it is come type of a mechanical recoil reducing mechanism.

Perhaps for a shot gun used in clays.

It is a Browning Recoil Reducer, not really meant for normal shotguns (too Large)...
I think it may have been for the military BAR...

The one that I had was complete, with its box, and some paperwork.

It was not easy to sell, and I finally got $55.00 after having it listed for a long time.

I had one of those on an early BT-99, it's a friction-damping recoil reducer. Worked quite well despite the horrible hard pad it had. Made in Germany.
