What's this M1 carbine Worth?

i just recently picked up this m1 Carbine at a local gun show, Can anyone who knows about these rifles tell me what they think of it and what's it worth?
looks to be an all original wartime inland carbine. Any information on this gun appreciated







 
I'm thinking refurb.

That sight (Type 3 stamped), would be postwar, like late 45 and on. The stock looks like a mid-war High-ledge type 2 stock. These would have been phased out before the Type 2 milled sight was introduced.

At the very least, your sight has either been replaced, or your stock has.

The stock is stamped Io and has the serial # on it in the cutout for the sling and on the underside of the hand guard, these look to be original markings on the stock, not fresh stamps, and I doubt they are from refurb because why would they put the io? Also it does not have the refurb "P" stamps on the stock. I am thinking that of the two the sight was probably changed, the stamps on the stock are quite convincing
 
Your serial number block (6-999,999) was made at Inland between May 1942 and September 1943, it should have the L sight and as well the push button safety, stock looks ok but the GI stocks were never numbered to the gun originally, this was done most likely later (Germans and Austrians did this with their carbines). It has some replacement parts that were added later.
 
From the photos, I see...Receiver is from the first Inland serial block, flat bolt, the rear sight is the later "stamped" adjustable type, it has the post war flip safety, has a type 1 "early" barrel band, and the stock is the early "High Wood" type that appears to have been extensively sanded on the bottom, especially in the trigger guard area, and then refinished. Handguard is typical early 2 rivet variety.

All in all a typical post war German issue piece.

Hard to pinpoint a value as some of it seems to be regional, but here in Alberta I've seen them offered in similar condition at Gun Shows for around the $650-700 mark. I don't know if they sell at those prices, but that's what I see them offered at.
 
Is there anything stamped in the sling well of the stock? That would be your evidence of whether or not it's a genuine USGI stock. Also is there any cartouche on the right side of the stock?

What's the story with the border police guns anyway? And there are no cartouches on the stock but in the sling well it is stamped IO 736445
 
My rear sight is a bit different than the OP's. What vintage is it?

That's a type 2 milled sight. They came out very late in the war, I've heard it said few(if any) made it to Europe before VE Day.

Those are the nicest of the m1 sights though, in my view.

IO in the sling well means its a Inland stock. The 736445 (which matches the serial number) was likely stamped later by the Germans.
 
Inland Carbines were eventually produced with the milled rear sight but that wasn't until late 1944 and with a SN range above 6.6M..........long after this one was produced.
