What's this worth?

You haven't looked at new old stock buttstocks in gun shows for a lot of years obviously, or your $15 price was an oddity.

I wouldn't be keen on a chipped up buttstock, but guys surely ask a lot for even rattier ones that I see in gun shows. Maybe they even sell one occasionally.
And buy a piece of wood that grade is out of this world

To me here is a $50 set

3-Macs set~I had a beautiful 1951 stock set in better condition than that (same though) that I added an older recoil pad to, and refinished nicely. Sold that for $150 shipped last year if memory serves. At the time (haven't looked lately) there were WTB ads for "corn cob" stock sets, so I got lots of responses.

As for the OPs question~the chips would be a deal-breaker for me, but the ugly putty/filler job doesn't help either. lol I wouldn't pay anything for it myself, but were I selling it....I'd probably try to find a buyer willing to pay about $25. Depending on how far you are from the post office and what you drive, it might not even be worth the effort of boxing it up and driving it there. (or any lower-value item)
