Whats up with remington rimfire ammo?

My 10/22 loves American Eagle and CCI Stingers. it'll shrug at Winchester Dynapoints. it grudgingly accepts CCI Blazers. it turns it's muzzle up at Federal Premium and throws tantrums if i bring a box of Remington Thunderbolt or Winchester Super X within sight of it.

yup, i got a winner. takes the cheap stuff! :D

I have 4 .22's. Only one bolt. It will eat anything but likes cyclones and stingers best.
One of my 10/22's will eat blazers or dynapoints all day long, but hates american eagle and dislikes most federal stuff. The other only likes cyclones and wildcats. My Winchester 64B likes blazers a lot and tolerates the cyclones. But they all shoot wildcats like they were mother's milk. Just hard to get now. My wife has a hard time keeping all the ammo straight. She thinks I should just buy one and be done with it. I would if I could still get wildcats.

i picked up a box of yellow jackets and target standard velocity rem yesterday, and they have zero crimp and no tension on the bullet! seriously, i can spin and wobble the bullet very freely in the case. i have had ammo before that i can turn the bullet in the case but not like these. this is the first time i've used remington ammo as i normally only ever use federal or winchester bulk but couldn't find any.
Has anyone ever noticed this and how do they shoot? i can see the velocity variances being all over the road.

I started using rem ammo, noticed what you did among other things (damaged bullet right from box on their target grade loads)fired a few groups then donated the rest to my dad to play with vowing to never use it again. all in one day. In short Remington ammo is ####e in my eyes.and this was 3 or 4 years ago so unlikely the same batch of ammo you looked at.

I have put over 5000 rounds through my 10/22 in the last month, federal bulk ammo was the worst for firing, but the crimp on the remington was almost non-existant, I could not pull the lead out by hand but it sure spins freely,
what is the best ammo?????

Eley elite or premium target, is pretty good also pretty expensive but so is the top grades from Agila and CCI(green patch)

Hah, I looked at the pic, then read his sig line, then looked at the pic again, reread the sig line...:owned:
That rifle is spotless, the bore is clean and sharp, the action is polished smooth and lubed with clean oil. NEVER had a FTF and it hits what it is pointed at. I fail to equate ugly with not maintained. 100% function.

Here is how it sits today with rebluing and a donor stock.

And here I was thinking it was me. I plowed through a box of Federal bulk without a hitch with my Cooey 600, then opted to try a few different types of ammo (mostly to see if anything would load through that stupid tubular magazine nicely) and had five FTF with Remington targets. One came out of the box with the bullet at 45 degrees, and three more came out of the muzzle with such little verve that they hit the dirt 30 feet ahead of the muzzle, which was pointed at a target about 75 yards away.

Oddly, the Remington Vipers I followed it up with shot great.

Now, if only I could get that stupid magazine sorted out.

Remmy

Odd. My son has a CZ (don't remember the model), but apart from the Eley stuff, its favourite ammo is the Rem Subsonic. However, the stuff won't shoot worth crap in my Norinco EM 332, which favours Winchester ammo - pretty well all types, and likes them even more than the Eley. Makes me happy boy with more $$$$ to shoot.:D

I have a CZ452, a BSA Martini Model 12 ancient target rifle, a Henry Golden Boy, a Winchester 67,and a Winnie 9422. They all like the CCI Minimags and Velociters but had FTFS with Remingtons. None with the Winchester regular stuff. I stick with CCI if I can get them. They shoot really well in everything. FWIW I have never had a FTF in anything I shoot with any of the CCI stuff. Remington Golden ammo was pummelled on the chats in the US though. Most thought it was crap. Wish I could still get Imperiall 22lr. Never had a FTF in that either when I was a kid. We went thru bricks of the stuff at a little over a buck at Cambodian Tire.

Remington Subsonic works okay in my .22s, (10/22 and a norinco JW-25A).It is quite dirty though.

Has anyone tried Remington Viper? I did a search earlier and the only thing I found was someone who claims they work great in their Sig Mosquito.

Best stuff I've shot so far... and I think the only mainstream .22 I have yet to shoot is CCI Minimags. Pretty quick little bullets; somewhere in the neighbourhood of 1400 fps IIRC.

It was a wee bit dirtier though. Not as bad as the target shiz though.
