whats ur pic for best coyote gun

I just got a Tikka T3 In 22-250, love this gun for yote hunting, shoots great and is very lite (7lbs 5oz fully loaded)
The 22-250 and 204 are great for yote's, but the 223 will be the cheapest and do just as good as the other two at med. range.

Just for coyotes - .243 Win. or 6mm Rem
Coyotes, but will be used on smaller stuff at times - .22-250
Smaller stuff and occasional coyotes - .223
Smaller stuff and rare coyotes as "opportunity" presents - .204

I just had a .223 done up on a Rem 700. For me it was not about cost of which is cheaper to shoot I just wanted something that I can readily get components for.

I did not want a 22-250 nor will I ever have another. The .223 is by far a more reloader friendly cartridge than the 22-250. The .223 can be more friendly on pelts at closer distances than the 22-250. Yes the 22-250 may be bigger, faster, stronger but up close wreaks havoc.

I have yet to go out with my .223 for yotes but may be able to after Christmas.

It appears to shoot like a house on fire for a used Hart barrel in 14 twist that was initially chambered in 22-250AI. I bought it from a fellow BR shooter. The throat was wore pretty bad(22-250AI what U expect). Guntech cut if back a few inches to get into some good steel and threaded and chambered it up. Touched up the crown and threaded it on to a trued up action with a Kiff aftermarket bolt and bedded into the factory BDL stock.

I have 40gr Sierra BK's coming out of the 26" barrrel at around 3800 with 25.2 grs of 133. Yesterday shot a .096 at 100 yards with it trying to find the load. I think this is one.

30 gr Bergers coming out at 4125 with 26.4 grs of 133. Just this morning shot a .160 with it. Think this is the other.

Pleased as all hell, so far. Figure I will change the barrel out before it ever gets shot out.

My first .223 and LOVING it.

Going to use my 223 with 50gr V-max and also my 6BR with 75gr V-max on yotes.......when I get a chance to go out.

Not sure what the velocity on the 6BR will be but I am guessing 3200-3400fps.

.243 would be hard to beat, 2506 is nice on the windy days, either can be used for deer. .223 if you want to practice cheap and get good longevity out of your barrel...In the tight spots I use 3.5" #4 buck. I am sure the coyote will not mind dying if hit in the right spot with even a .22 rimfire.

Well I got a sks-d, 10 22, 17hmr 30-06 just want something I use just for yoties don't get me wrong 30-06 is good so is the sks the 17 is a little light but its great to get them damn pigeons off my barn roof

I just had one built but if I was going to go the factory route I would probably buy a T3 lite camo in 25-06. Nice rifle without breaking the bank.

You might need a 243 win.
No point being under gunned with a 223.
You may get those 400 plus yard shots in high wind. The 243 out shines them all with a good load.:D

75gr V-Max at about 3600fps. A little low, but still effective.

The big guns are GREAT if you DO NOT care about saving the hides. The challenge is in being able to call them in and shoot them at closer range.

The price of pelts if you have an exit hole it is almost not worth the time and effort.

If you just want to make sure you kill them stone dead shoot them with any big rifle. Heck use a 460 Weatherby if you so desire.

Shooting coyotes, ideally a flat shooting bullet is the ticket. One that is flat yet opens up violently on impact. Flat because in reality they are not that big a critter.

Not a Coyote, but a .223 used on a Bobcat at 175yds. Looks like it had horsepower to spare.

Exit wound at 2:00

I liked the .204 with 39 gr. Blitzkings. Could kill a coyote waay out there and you can stay in your scope and see the imapact.
22-250 is a great round, as is the .222, .223, 220 Swift
