What's wrong with my gun!?

If your so interested in taking a stand...go fight the anti's. I fail to see how splitting shooting organizations down the middle accomplishes anything.

We seem hell bent on defeating ourselves. How stupid are we

Apples and oranges, we are not talking about splitting an organization that is fighting for gun rights or even cares about Canadian laws. It is simply the governing body for our sport and it never hurts to stand up and be heard. If the US can write it's own rule book and still be a member of IPSC, why can't we?

He quoted Sean in his reply,...I thought it was directed at Sean and his business,...so did Sean and just about everyone who read this. I have only known Sean for 5 years,...and if he was paid for the time he puts in to the shooting sports he should be filthy rich,..but he isn't. He loves shooting.

The great conspiracy revealed,...Sean can now retire because he made so much money off IPSC exemptions.

Rules are rules. Cest la vie

So If I quote you and then talk about I rash I have, we are to assume you have an STD?

Huh? Your reading and comprehension skills need some work. His comments were directly aimed at Sean, hence my reply and that of Maurice.

We hardly have to defend Sean's honour he is capable of doing so himself. But when a stranger attempts to discredit a character of one of my friends, and I regard Sean is a friend, then I will come to his defense.

Just what or who do you think Flexmoney was referring to in his comments if not Sean?

Canuck44,

It's a good sign to see you sticking up for your buddy. Good on you.

In the same token, he has come at me the two times I've entered into discussions on this forum. Isn't it OK for me to stick up for myself?

- He made some bold statements (the other thread) about Glocks not being competitive.
- He has boldly stated that USPSA doesn't intend to run any IPSC matches.

I believe he is mistaken on both of those bold positions. Then, he accuses me of BS'ing. I am willing to back up my positions. Money talks...BS walks. ;)

"If IPSC treated you badly because of that...isn't that IPSC's doing?"

IPSC just ended their Canadian exemptions. All it did ws bring the rules into line with the rest of IPSC. Not sure where the "badly" comes in. We all knew the exemptions were not permanent

Hmmm...then what is your buddy blaming on USPSA?

How about this question...

Are the Canadian IPSC shooters better off with the exemption or without the exemption?

I think most would see a clear answer there?

Then, I think the next question would be...should you take one for the "Global Community"? Should Canadian shooters be made to suffer for the whole of IPSC? And, for that matter, is IPSC harmed at all by allowing the defacto standard that has been in place...the mag exemption? To what degree? Reasonable?

Sticking up for yourself is one thing, accusing someone of profiting from his position is quite another. You owe him an apology...just about as simple as that.

When was the last time a Glock won the Production Division at the World Shoot? Answer is....

I have read rumours to the effect there will be an IPSC US Nationals this year as well on the Enos Forum. Has it been annouced or is it still a rumour?

Question: How many rule book versions are there in major league baseball? If IPSC want to have one rule book so be it.

I guess we all have an opinion about what the rules should be....or what rules we think should be changed. But,..if a Canadian IPSC shooter should choose to shoot in another IPSC country,....than if would be most advantageous to comply with the IPSC rules. If ones chooses to shoot USPSA,..than make your guns compliant to those divisions you choose to participate in. I could get a couple of big sticks and shoot in Limited USPSA,..or use my IPSC standard division mags blocked to 10rds for domestic IPSC matches in Canada.

If we're going to play IPSC...we have to follow all the rules...not just the ones that are convenient to us...

I agree with that.

Speaking of rules... Why is this rule in the rule book if it won't be used where it would benefit the members of a particular Region?

3.3.1 IPSC matches are governed by the rules applicable to the discipline. Host organizations may not enforce local rules except to comply with legislation or legal precedent in the applicable jurisdiction. Any voluntarily adopted rules that are not in compliance with these rules must not be applied to IPSC matches without the express consent of the Regional Directorate and the IPSC Executive Council.

The benefit to Canadian IPSC shooters is rather clear. The mag exemption has allowed many shooters to not have to buy additional equipment. IPSC Canada sought this benefit by applying for the exemption.

So, why wasn't it granted? The means to do so is spelled out in the rule book, correct? And, the benefit to the shooters of the region is clear.

Now, I know that Vince Pinto doesn't speak in any official capacity when he posts on the Global Village Forum, but...I believe him when he said the goal was "85 Regions, 1 rule book, 0 exemptions."

That is a political agenda. And, it is in opposition to the relief that could be granted under Section 3.3 of the rule book. (Relief that has been granted in the past.)

Where are Canadian IPSC shooters likely to travel to shoot matches?

I think you are looking at a pretty long flight in most cases? Those that have the wherewithal to make such trips, also would have the wherewithal to "gear up" for IPSC without the exemption.

What about the average shooter? Where are they likely to shoot?

And, for goodness sake...what about the single-stack 1911 ? I think they are competitive in a 10 round division while using 10 round mags. (That is what I have been shooting the last few months...as I take pressure off my supply of small pistol primers that feed my Glocks and use up some large pistol primers.)

In Production any gun on the approved list with a barrel longer than 105mm. even Glocks with 5+ lb trigger pulls.
Does anyone make single stack .40cal 1911's? If you are talking .45acp the round is very expensive to shoot up here and for most shooters not very competitive in Standard Division. You see mostly double stack .40 cal guns or at least that has been my experience.

I find it amusing that a when we lost the exemption, there was lots of griping and moaning about it here. Sean fought for us to keep it, so I know he is not against us having exemptions as well as most of those that have posted here....so why is it that when the big bad American shows up to agree with us, we are suddenly defending the World body and the rules?
If "the rules are the rules" why did we even ask for an exemption in the first place? Shouldn't we have marched happily into line and just gone with the rule book all these years?

Did not say I liked it, but did respect that it was a rule that every other country was following; adhere to IPSC rules. Furthermore,...the attack on Sean's integrity was obvious. For me not to write something would be advocating it,..Sean fights his own battles, but I chose to put my 2 cents in,..just because I can.

I am picking up my 45 brass and reloading it again....primers are the same money$...and I am using cast lead bullets from a local source.

Do you have hurdles with getting cast lead?

The single-stack 1911 in 45 is quite popular with our "local" shooters (guys that don't travel around from club to club so much).

Correct, most IPSC Canada shooters would likely shoot in the USA under USPSA rules,..I have only shot outside of Canada twice,..both times in the USA under USPSA rules. Shot production both times,..but could have shot L10 or Limited with my .40 as I had the mags for it. I consider myself average. Only thing I changed for production was my holster. I don't feel it is a financial burden to have an extra holster (USPSA rule non race) or un-pin my mags. (a rule I can live with)

Well,.....I think we are making a mountain out of a mole hill. Lets hug and get back to shooting.:dancingbanana:,...

No but .45acp brass is lying around knee deep at every range. The .45acp cartridge is not, nor has it ever been as popular as it is in the US. Our armed forces have been 9MM in the main since WW11. OUr municpal police use either 9MM or .40cal. All Federal forces use the 9MM. I can't speak for every range but you seldom see it at ranges I have shot at. I own five pistols in 45acp and only shoot one of them occasionally in IDPA. My brass lasts darn near forever.

If I were to shoot Standard Division it would be with a double stack .40cal - can you say STI. The .40cal makes major and .40cal brass is in abundance.

No we have WW on our cars just like you do. You evidently don't have much experience with IPSC up here.

from the USPSA page:

Match Name: United States IPSC National Championship
Match Type: Handgun
Approval Status: Pending
Starting Date: 10/04/09
Ending Date: 10/04/09
Location: Circleville, Ohio
Range Master: Paul Hernandez
Match Director: Kyle Farris & Jason Conrad
Contact: Kyle Farris
Phone: 614 408 8333
Email: OhioUSPSA@aol.com
Fee: 100
Additional info: This is an IPSC Level III (Pending) Match. World Shoot Team Qualifier
Match Level: International

this is one of the reasons why i made my comment, since to shot this match, all competitors will have to met IPSC rules, not USPSA rules. an example of this is that my 170mm mags(one of which i know was tuned by Howard Smith) as they stand right now will not fit the IPSC gauge but they will fit the USPSA gauge.

Competitors in Production will have to leave their <5# triggered guns at home as well as any that have had major trigger work done on them. No M&P Pros or Glock 34's either. The CZ Custom from Angus is also out. My favourite - no guns having been refinished by anyone other than the factory.
