What's your 2020 Big Game plan?

I am going to try my dog in the field for the first time with geese but obviously that is not big game. My plan is to hopefully bag an elk and a bear. I will get a whitetail in the fall as well, but that is easy they really should add a second tag for whitetail in saskatchewan. Not to mention mule deer.

Hard to believe it's only 10 more days till we find out about our moose draw. We've been applying for 3 years without drawing a tag, but haven't reached our 10 person minimum until this year, we have 14. Hoping we get a moose in bow and gun, if we do, I'll be buying a 2nd freezer. Good luck to everyone.

2020 Hunt Schedule

September - Alberta - Elk, Moose, Mule Deer
October - Ontario Moose, Ontario deer (archery) Quebec/Ontario Upland birds and waterfowl
November - Ontario deer rifle
December - Whatever's left

Got my turkey all ready, coyote have been chased away by the neighbour for the time being, fall will hopefully see geese hunting again (last year my buddy was working crazy overtime while available so we didnt get out any saturdays), whitetail should be interesting since i didnt get to book both weeks in november so i will have to make some long weekends and see about crossbow hunting on weekends before and after gun season.

Goats, Elk and sheep in September. Mule deer and white tails through September and into November. And if I happen across a bear or more wolves......

I made the decision to 999 my Alberta draws for Elk and Mule Deer this year. I think that I probably would have drawn both this year but with a move coming up and the state of the virus still up in the air I decided that it wasn't worth it. I'll have to decide which to put in for next year.

So it will be Whitetails for me, either archery at my friends' orchard or rifle out at camp. I'll grab a bear tag as well since we need to remove the problem bear from our camp neighbourhood. I might put in for an antlerless whitie draw as well. Why not.

All in all, not that exciting.

Maybe its the beers, or the rum and cokes talking but i hope all you guys, girls, women, and children, are successful in all your 2020 hunts! The world needs more hunting stories, thats a damn fact :)

I didn’t draw any tags this year so I will he helping dad and his buddy with there badlands elk tags. Then help another buddy out with his draw muly tag. I will just be doing the regular whitetail hunting and when I’m not doing that I will be Coon hunting.

I wasn't fortunate enough to draw any tags this year so I will be focusing on the open seasons as much as life will permit. Fortunately I have access to an area that has an open season for goat and quite honestly at this point it's an addiction so that is most likely where I will be focusing my efforts. Aside from that it will be see what I can do for mule/ black tail deer and perhaps moose if I can get north at all this fall.

my plns have changed a bit, im not going to 'trophy' hunt the remainder of this year, instead i will be making a conscious effort to manage the populations where i can by targetting Sambr hinds and leaving all spikes and stags to grow.

In doin so i will still be actively hunting the bush, i will be targetting Wild dogs since the bush fires, less deer and more dogs at present, with an added bounty of $120 per dog, i think its wise move and a dog is elusive an creates a massive challenge.

i will re asses at the end of this year and see where 2021 takes us

No draw tags for me this year so it looks like I'll be hopefully spending some more time going after waterfowl (which I seem to say every year) followed up by some regular season moose in late October, and whitetail in November, maybe moose again in the late season at the end of November. I'm really hoping to get my wife out for a whitetail as it has been a few years since she has harvested an animal. Seems having a couple kids diverted her attention...

No archery Moose tag (applied as an individual but only had a 10% chance per last years statistics), but did get an antlerless Whitetail tag (not that I'll use it), so focus will be archery deer behind my house through October, then a week in 55A in November with the rifle. I really hope to fit in a couple of days of grouse somewhere along the way.

Group did draw our bull tag, and theres 128 surplus cow tags in our unit. I'm sure there's more than a few outfitters with vacancies looking to be filled now with the uncertainty
of the border only 6 1/2 weeks away.
