What's your 2020 Big Game plan?

SK draw pronghorn is not out yet, so that's a wildcard. End of October if I'm drawn. Otherwise it will be September either ### elk in the SK regular season, Black bear at the same time, Whitetail in November, and perhaps regular bull moose. I'm looking into Bison farther afield as a late season hunt. Africa safari planning is on hold with the pandemic.

Unless I draw my Idaho elk tag, or the border remains closed, I'll be heading north for my first OTC elk hunt! I'll give it a try, worst thing that can happen is time away from work in the woods!!!

Last year was my first time. It was a learning experience for sure. We didnt connect but did see a few. A lot different hunt than I expected but was very fun.

Mine don't change much from year to year
archery deer in October
rifle deer 1st week of November
controlled hunt deer 1st week of December
Maybe a moose hunt if one of us wins the lottery by drawing a tag otherwise it'll turn into a grouse hunt for a few days in October

Mid September fly-in moose Northern Ontario, cow tag for sure and will likely pull a bull too. October is a write off with a little one on the way and November is up in the air at this point. December could fill a few days with the shotgun deer hunt in 85B

Didn’t draw any of my Wyoming tags (doe/fawn antelope, or antlerless deer)

Trying to figure out what to fill that void space with now :(

White tail in Ontario of course - both archery and rifle.

But now looking to divert the time/funds I was going to spend for Wyoming to something elsewhere... Quebec moose? Alberta Elk or Muley, or just wait until next year and focus on bear and whitetail here.

Got some friends in AB still from the army days that I may reach out to and see if they’d be up for being my ‘host/guide’

Waiting on my dad and brother to get their licences and into hunting so that o can use them for getting back out to BC as a non-resident

Get on the leftover draw, you never know. This year leftover quotas are insane, not just point creep but in terms of applications. There are a handful of Type 1 tags left which I'll be applying on to see if I can draw a 2nd Antelope Type 1 tag.

Shoot a big buck during the shotgun hunt in November then back to waterfowl until we got enough snow to run coyotes

No bear or moose this year, Too busy in sept/Oct and save my time off for November

Looking at the "leftover list", none of the places I planned on have any tags left (22 or 16 for Antelope). Or Region C for deer.

There is still a bit of hope using the AccessYes and hunting close by using 23-7 (doe/fawn Antelope on private land). Johnson 7 is there as private land to be used, so Im hoping I can make it work.

Im limited on when I go down, as Ive already got the time booked from work for middle of Oct, otherwise I'd be all over the November hunts

EDIT:

The rest of the guys Im going down with got their tags for Antelope 22/16 and Deer Region C. In order to stay close, and still come down for the hunt, I just put in for:
Antelope 23-7 (fawn/doe on private land... plan on using Johnson 7 from the AccessYes)
Deer 23-7 (fawn/doe on private land... plan on using Johnson 3 from AccessYes)

September bull moose hunt in northern BC with my usual crew, and will likely add a black bear tag to that based on the number we ran into last year.

Bull elk hunt in early November in southern Alberta.

Whitetail in mid-November in central/northern Alberta.

Guiding my wife in early December at the Camp Wainright military base in Alberta, where she'll be packing cow moose and deer tags (whitetail and mulie).

And as much bird hunting as my dog and I can fit in :)

I will try for a velvet buck with my bow, if that doesn't happen I will try for a hard horned buck with my bow, almost had a nice buck with my bow last year but stupid me I had tapped my thumb release pulling back so my arrow fell to the ground in a comical manner and the buck basically laughed at me as he left. Never shot anything with my bow so I gotta keep on trying. Either species buck and elk I'll be trying for with my bow. After bow season ends just WT and bull elk.

BC offers many opportunities:
1. Elk - Sep/Oct
2. Moose - Sep/Oct
3. Whitetail Deer x 2 - Oct/Nov
4. Mule deer - Nov
5. Nice fat Black Bear, feeding in an oat field. Sep/Nov :)
