What's your .270 bullet??

I've had good performance from the Nosler 140 grain Ballistic Tips but haven't tried the Accubond. Working up some loads for that bullet may be this summer's rifle project. The 110 grain Hornady VMAX is a great round for coyotes and other varmints.

Oddly enough for pure accuracy in my Sako 75 the best load is the plain old Federal 150 grain Classic soft point. It consistently puts 5 rounds into .75" or less at 100 yards. Sort of takes the thrill out of reloading when you can't load ammo better than what you can buy at Canadian Tire.:redface:
 
I use a 130 grain Sierra Pro hunterpushed with a Max charge of H-4350 and fed GM primers.
This bullet works great for Whitetail, bit more rugged than the Hdy Sp 130s I found.
I also had great luck with 150g SST bullets and deer.
 
I use the 140gr. Accubond last year in my 270win. It's a very accurate (cloverleafs) in my rifle and performed great on my 5pt buck, dropped in his tracks. Reloder22 works great I found as does IMR 4831.

.270Win, .277" 140gr. Accubond Nosler @3000fps, recovered from whitetail buck at 40m. Bullet entered left shoulder and deflected up into neck area where it was found just inside the skin.

Any of the 130-150gr offerings should do well for North American Game!

I have had good luck with 150gr Nosler partion on everything from deer to moose.
 
I like to shoot somewhat heavy for calibre bulllets generally. It does slightly negate the benefits of a fast cartridge like the 270...

That being said, I don't own a 270, but it is sending the bullet fairly fast, so ditto the above recommendations of tough bullets such as the Accubond or TSX.

I really like the performance of the Accubond in my 30/06.

Another vote for the 140gr Nosler Accubond. I've made three consecutive one-shot kills on mature whitetail bucks with this bullet. I load 'em in my .270Win. to just a shade under 3000fps out of a 22" barrel (chrony'd) Wouldn't hesitate to smack a moose or elk with this particular load either...KF
 
I have a T3 Lite in .270 Win and it's been an excellent deer rifle so far.

Last summer I tested a handfull of different reloads for group size at 200 yards. The best was 140 gr Nosler Accubonds. Sadly, I used the whole box testing and practicing and coiuldn't get any for hunting season. In the end my hunting loads for last year were 140 gr Hornady Interlocks. They performed perfectly.

This year I'm planning to use 140 gr Barnes Triple Shock bullets. Mainly because I'm a vulnerable to good marketing and these seem really impressive.
 
130 gr TSX with reloader 22. Flat shootin', sub moa in my Tikka and have shot 2 whitetails so far, double lung, one shot kills. Neither deer got more than 10 yds. Very effective.
 
.270 for deer

My current favourite deer rifle is a AV in .270 and so far it shoots as well as I could ask using 130 gr or 140. I've just been using the Canadian Tire Winchester silvertips and it's one shot--one deer. I will eventually try the Barnes but my Sako is absolutely happy with regular factory loads. Is this true with other makes of .270 rifles?
 
150gr SST over H4831SC lit by either the Fed 210M or CCI BR2 primer in lee collet sized fireformed brass.

At 100yds, the bullet made a 2"X3" hole in, 3" exit wound diagonally across the chest cavity of a very large 4X4 mulie. hits hard.

I've been impressed with the 150gr Interlock SP and the 150gr Speer BTSP in my brothers 270 Win on 6 or 7 mulies and numerous black bear (never found a single bullet).

Were he still shooting that rifle now, I would load the 130gr TSX and would be comfortable with that combo on any NA critter.

The 140gr Partition and 140gr AB would be my 2nd and 3rd choices.

For purely deer however, I'll echo what has already been said, with any standard 150g bullet being quite sufficient.
