Went to the range for first time since covid closure. Been about 45days since I shot last. Since its been awhile. Could be my memory playing tricks on me

Brought with me a pack 200rd 9mm ammo. Realized I usually just stuff a bunch of ammo in box. Typically 50rd boxes. For first time I had a 200rd box

Ran through it pretty fast with some great to decent groupings. Thought to myself. That went really fast. I must be shooting quite a bit more ammo during visits.

I run thru ammo quicker than others since I have 4-5 mags for each pistol and there loaded, ready to go.

Was wondering what fellow members here for pistols go thru in a range trip? Average round count?

I usually limit myself to 200. How fast it goes depends on what I’m doing though. An IPSC drill using only s couple rounds I might be there all night. Just blasting away for fun I’ll probably blow through it pretty quick. With a revolver I might not even finish 200.

About 300 - 500 but my target tells me when I'm done for the day. You can only grip and lift for so long.

Not only how many rounds you take .......but is there such thing as firing too many rounds through a pistol at one range trip ? I normally shoot anywhere between 150-200 rounds per trip. Always wondered if there was a consensus on an upper limit.

I'm really appreciative of this conversation as I was just wondering the exact same question. I was the only person on the range and I blew through 300 rounds (2 pistols) in a flash. Good to know that I'm within the average of others here. I'll probably have to bring 600 with me next time.

I will usually take 3 guns with me to the range. One of my Sig Elites (9mm, .45, .40) and will take 100 rds, sometimes 150 for the 9mm. Then I will bring a revolver, usually shooting .38 and some .357, occasionally .44. Will limit myself to 50 rds usually. And I always take my S&W Model 41. I love shooting it, and it's much more affordable. Usually shoot 150 rds with it, or sometimes 200. So I average about 300+ rds per trip. My range is 5 minutes from my house, so I go at least once a week, sometimes twice. I have been know to drop in as many as 4 times in a week in winter months, as it's an indoor range. With the good weather, I've gotten busy catching up on house maintenance, so less time to shoot. Only a trip a week lately. But over the course of a year, I will go through 20K at least.

I usually go through about 100 in a 44 revolver. If you are just trigger yanking for fun the limit is $$. I find drills and good concentration limit my useful learning to 100 rnds or so.

I don’t compete or practice to compete.

I usually bring a couple semiautos and a couple hundred rounds. If the first rounds group nicely in the A zone at 10 meters, I reach for the second piece. Repeat. Usually, I don’t burn more than 50 rounds total.

Then the .22LR CZ452s come out, 100 rounds. then the HW97 Air rifles turn.

Normally 25-50. 75 max on nights where I shoot the .22 & .32. Get out about 2-3 times a week in the winter.

On the rare occasions where my 9mm, .38, or .45 get out I'm just out for fun with minimal concentration. Higher round counts then, 100+ for each.

Now that summer has hit, 0. It's shotguns until the fall!
