On your hunting excursions and camps and backpack hunts or whatever...what are you guys using for cookware and what are you using for a stove, ....

Post some pics!

I needed a new woods kettle and picked up this one a few days ago.
It's not gonna challenge my MSR Titanium water boiler, but this little kettle was just too nice to pass up..

Ideal for those days I'm out on a grouse hunt and want to have a cup of tea or just a bit of lunch while moose or deer hunting...

I love it...

I use a MSR stove and lightweight pot to boil water for freeze dried meals, but in a drive up camp I'll switch to cast iron and Coleman 2 burner stove!:)

I've looked at those Kelly Kettles from Lee Valley and I plan on picking up the small one when I get the chance. Pretty cool.

pretty much the same as me,...but those kelly kettles are 1.5 -2 lbs !!!!

This year we are gonna make camp,...breakfast there, evening nightime meal there...Coleman stove and cast Irons ....good food.

Lunches or snacks during the day will be well away from camp,...lightweight waterboiler with MSR...works just fine.

I have a couple different titanium pots that never leave my packs. I change it up once and a while depending on what stove I am going to use. Been testing a MSR Reactor stove and pot combo for the past while and so far have been fairly impressed. Needs some more serious testing to be sure though...

I like that kettle, what is the weight on it?

I have had the Primus tea pot for about 5 years and it has served me well. The first reason that I bought it was price, very reasonable. The second reason was how light it was, yet extremely tough.

The lid has always fit snug from day one and still does. The fold flat handle is very strong but even though the handle has a plastic type cover over the handle, it can still get very hot. I have not really noticed any leaks from the spout but because it is so short any water leakage will just drip into the cup/bowl anyway.

I use the Primus exclusively for boiling water only. I do not cook in it or mix tea or coffee or anything thing else in it. I believe it would be too hard to clean out.

Yes, it is heavier than a titanium equivalent (if there is something like out there), but the trade off is that it is almost indestructible on the trail and in the pack. You do not have to worry about placing it carefully in your pack so it will not crush or bend out of shape. Since it does have a low profile you can fit it easily in your pack.I do a lot of day hikes and multi day off road four wheel drive trips, both are hard on gear.

On a side note to see how efficient the tea pot is I did a non scientific boil time test with the Esbit titanium wing stove. First I used my homemade Heineken 24 oz beer can pot and then the Primus tea pot. I boiled one cup of tap water temperature water in each. The Heineken pot took about 5 minutes and the Primus teapot took about 3 ½ minutes to bring to a boil. There are several factors involved but that is my test result. Buy it!

These are the things I need to start piecing together for my slowly growing hunting/fishing/camping kit. Keep this thread going guys! I don't want to have to buy stuff twice.

I got the 1.4L for camping and it boils quick. Also picked up a GSI coffee press. It sure is nice to be drinking your morning coffee 10 min after stricking the match. Not having to pack fuel is a bonus too. It is too bulky for a pack but the smaller one would be good for day trips.

When I priced them out, the best price was direct from Kelly Kettle. 2 large with shipping & exchange was $146. They showed up 7 days later.
