What's your deer gun?

I have a BLR in .308 that would be my go-to, no screwin around general purpose deer rifle. I need to get a new scope for it, i'm thinking a nice 2-7 would do the trick.
If I was sure I'd be in a stand not bombing around in the bush all day, i'd probably take my full military m96 in 6.5x55. That thing shoots 129 SSTs like laser beams.

.270WSM in a Tikka T3 stainless composite stock with a Zeiss 3.5x10 x44 .Big improvement over my old Remington, .270 out of the box groups were pretty impressive ,and it does kill :)

Lately I've been using my m305 for a bush gun as I'm very confident in myself shooting it off hand. But. Just about any 224-32 caliber will do in a pinch.. Always take one of my 303s with me as a back up or if I'm feeling some smle action

A marlin 336 texan in .30/30,a savage 99e lightweight carbine in .300 sav(both wearing 2-7's)ruger american in .243 with 4-12x40,1989 remington model 700 bdl in .270 win with 3-9x40 and occasionally a 1986 remington model 7400 in .30-06 with 3-9x44.All depends on terrain or weather.

Go to for me is a Rem 700 Alaskan Titanium in 300wsm, Glass is a leupold VX3 4.5-14 with front focal adjustment. Love the this thing in the mountains !

The last two years, it's been my Winchester 1300 Speed Pump duck gun. I hate lugging that long barrel through brush, but it shoots slugs well and handles buckshot quite well, too. I've shot two does in two years with buckshot.

I used to haul out my rifles a lot more, but now I just use my shotguns, and usually the Winchester. It works a lot better where I hunt in town, because it doubles the area I can legally hunt.

I could never be relegated to one gun for deer. I used the following this year:

Ruger Carbine 44 Mag
Tikka 595 308 with an upgraded McMillan Stock
Remington Model Seven SS 243

I have since sold the Tikka to my brother in law and will re-barrel the model seven to a 308 and order a McMillan Edge for it. Looking to pick up a BLR as well. "I can quit whenever I want to though"
