Although I own several different types. Leupold is regarded as being one of the best. If not the best. I am a fan. But I do believe they are over rated. I only say this because. I believe the bushnell ,3200 , 4200 the burris fullfield's and just about any of the nikon line up are as good or better than leupolds. Especially for the $$$ But you sure can't beat the no hassle leupold warranty. I have never owned a Kahles, zeiss or nightforce so I can't comment on them. I think any of the optic's ranging from $250-$400 are tough to beat IMHO!

I'm gonna try a leupold rifleman 3x9 40 too much positive feedback to pass up thanks for all your suggestions.
I wouldn't recommend the Rifleman--you're better off with a Bushnell 3200 for that price. The Leupolds start getting interesting at the FXII/VXII. These and the III's are the best scopes you can buy for the money, bar none. The Rifleman and VXI, well at least the box says Leupold....
