What's your favorite hunting gun, and why?

I'm a Remington guy through and through and I love shotguns more than any other non-restricted firearm......... BUT My favorite hunting rifle is my Marlin 1895M in .450 marlin. Shot my first bear with one I borrowed when i was 16 and searched high and low for three years to find one for sale. I finally found one and bought it right away. I think that is why i like it so much more than all my remingtons the thrill of a successful hunt for the gun you want.

I would post pictures but i have a broken foot and hobbling down stairs to my safe and getting it out is too much work right now

I like this 700 257Roberts that Bevan King built for me. It is the most consistant rifle I have ever owned and death on deer.

Nothing special actually. Currently wears a TI take off with a mountain rifle contour stainless bbl. I'm swapping the scope out for a FXII 4x for this fall.

My favorite gun is my Rossi Pomba in .308. Just a nice light short barreled rifle that is more than capable of knocking down anything in Ontario.

If I can only have one rifle, I would keep the ruger #1 375H&H.
The reason I like it is that the felt recoil is easier to handle than a .308 in a savage based on my very limited experiences. Besides, the one shot on kill thing is super cool.

I am a shotgunner, fact of the matter is you can take down anything in North America with a good old 12 gauge shotgun. From Deer to Moose and Bears with slugs and small game and birds with shot it is all covered. The ultimate in reliability and simplicity is a break action single shot but I really enjoy shooting a semi for the fast follow up rounds and softer felt recoil.
This is my current weapon of choice.

I love a nice semi as well,

My Benelli Ultralight is my favourite walking shotgun. I tried selling it in the past but have since bonded with this gun on some memorable hunts and it will not be going anywhere.

Note: I was a hunting with a buddy on this day and did not shoot 7 grouse, he is taking the pic :)

Remington 700 35 Whelen, CZ550 Medium Lux in 9.3 x 62, Ruger Compact 260 Rem, Win 1886 .33 WCF, Win Model 71 in 348, Browning Model 71 Carbine in 348, a Browning 1895 in 30-06, Browning 1886 Saddle Ring carbine in 45-70 and an 1886 Short Rifle in 45-70.

My 375 H+H Model 700 is the rifle I have taken with me all over, from Alaska to Africa the Yukon and northren B.C.

well, i really like my savage scout 10 fcm in 308. i have just bought a 308 chamber adapter to shoot 32 acp out of it for small game like rabbit, grouse, and squirrel. my ruger 77/44 is a close runner up.

Rifle built by Bill Leeper for RickF, then to Rackmastr, then Mur, and then I. Now my Brother in Law. If I didn't like the guy I would break his fingers til he sold it back.

Winchester SS, #1 Pacnor, Bansner Stock. .284 Winchester and it shot .25-.4" with 140gr TTSX's. I'm going to hit the sauce now.....

I have 1941 vintage Winchester Model 70 in .300H&H magnum.
The reason I love it is that I inherited it from my great, great uncle. He died in 95.
There is a great deal of family history in it besides the fact that the action is as smooth as silk and it shoots!
I've only used it for a few years, but it hasn't let me down.
I'll post pics when I get time.

Not that I use this one that often, but it puts a smile on my face every time I shoot something with it. Cooper in 17 Rem Fireball. I even dropped a couple of wild pigs with it.

Rem 7600 in 25-06, with 1.75-6 Leuplod Heavy Duplex...

Why? I just really like it..Not that I believe in a ''lucky gun'', but I have been really lucky with this rifle taking over 30 deer, and 8 moose in the 5yrs I hunted with it..Five of the deer making the FROW record books.

I adore my Ruger M77 MKII 25-06. I mainly hunt deer and coyotes and it has all the power I want for deer and the range for coyotes. Plus there is little to no recoil in the 8 lbs gun! Its fun to not be "scared" of your gun! I hunt with a few fellows who all hunt with a magnum of some sort(cause you know those little does are tough) and I can make cleaner kills with the rifle becasue its so gentle on ya. If required( I don't endorse it) on a running shot I can get off two shots to their one shot from their cannons.

I do have to admit I do hunt with a cannon here and there(375 H&H) but I have put in the trigger time to be very comfortable with it and a reliable shot.
