Just got the Lyman one. Love it, seems to be very good for a starting reloader and I very much appreciated the whole section in wich he debates the best big game bullets and why you should invest in a good one.

Downside is I thought there wasn't lots of different loads for each caliber but then Again, they can't put them all here, I'll huse Hodgdon database to complete.

Also his Volumes I and II on wildcat cartridges are very well worth the money.

I've been wondering for a while : What are wildcat cartridges ?

I like the new nosler Manual, I like the edition V of Sierra. Really like to compare loads from the mid 60's in my Speer#6.
Really they are all good to have. FS

Wow, I seem to be in a majority for once! Lyman is my #1, but in saying that I also use Barnes, Nosler, Hornady, Hodgdon and Speer when I use their bullets and want a comparison. I also use online sources.

I'm a reloading rookie, so take this for what it is worth.

For me,the sierra manual(5th eddition) is very easy to read and understand. I like the layout of the manual, sierra also has a recommended load/powder for target and hunting in whatever caliber you are using. It has a nice handgun section as well.

For sure Ken Waters Pet loads with the amendments in the 2 volume set. Most of the info is 25 years old at least but you will not find a better source for the how and why of each calibers reloading.

Any of the new reloading books are pretty much obsolete as soon as they are printed and no 2 will have the same info or even the same loadings for a caliber. I collect them just because I love books.

So I generally go to Pet loads first and then go to the actual websites for the latest recipes to make sure the powder hasn't changed and the min-max loads correspond. Then I work up slowly and watch for pressure signs.

i have speer and hornady i like the hornady better than speer and i think i will be buying me lyman's after reading threw this post hope it all helps and thanks to the others for the info
