Hard to nail a favourite...... I go back & forth between the Glock and 1911 platforms.
Glock would be my go to for a SHTF scenario, though.

Browning Hi power is my fav.
I like the fit in my hand , the balance in the hand, the proportions the classic lines, the history, the durability and reliability, .
I have the currant version, with the awesome adjustable sites.

CZ75 SP-01 at the range, if one could carry I'd prefer the Ruger SR9.
Basically a single action revolver will fire the shell in the barrel, and you'll have to #### the hammer to rotate the cyl. A dual action revolver will rotate the cyl, and fire the shell with the force of your finger on the trigger. A semi auto will use the blast to eject the casing and load another shell.

You don't choose a favorite pistol. You just one day, with experience with a bunch of different brands and models, find a pistol that is the one for you. The grip angle feels just right, the trigger is the way you like it, the controls are in the right spot, the pistol's got a beautiful finish, it points naturally and so on......
For me it's a 1911 in .45ACP and a Sig P228, P229 in 9mm.
I did not choose them. They chose me.
I've gone through 30+ pistols & I like most of them I just shoot the best with a 1911. Same thing with the HK USP Tactical I had, I could shot the wings off a fly with that pistol, with my friends glock I cant even hit the target if I don't pay attention

I use my Glock 17 more than anything else, largely because accessories are widely available and it shoots well.
My FAVORITE to shoot is my 9x18 Makarov... It's small but super accurate because of the fixed barrel.

Well I have 2 favs for different reasons.
For a natural balanced just feels right pistol it is my SIG 228 clone.
For fun, ease, dependability, and affordable trigger time my Ruger 22/45 as any pistol time is good time and with the price of rimfire I can afford to shoot way more than with my 9mm.
The Hogue grips just makes it all feel so right.

I've recently aquired a steyr M40a1 and I love it
It's got very unique trapaziodal sights that are very quick to acquire and very accurate, and one of the nicest striker fired triggers out there (sharp break, and a "one click" reset) plus a look thats unike anything else.
I've had extensive experience with the m&p 40 and have put 50 or so rounds through a glock 22, I'm not a glock guy (they just don't sit right in my hands)
They're both great reliable guns that get the job done, but they lack personality, that feeling that there's something special about them, and the steyr has that in spades (note; personality does not necessaraly mean unreliable), plus it seems to like spitting brass at my wife...
It's too bad they switched back to more conventional sites for the L-series.
On a different note, I've always loved 1911s and would love to get my hands on a coonan, and recently got the chance to shoot an arsenal strike one (best trigger ever!) And last but not least, I find the desert eagle extremely comfy, and the .50ae makes it a blast to shoot

I shoot respectably well with most guns, but not only do I feel most comfortable with, but I shoot far better than all others with a 1911 platform.
Shoot what works for you. There is no one perfect gun for everybody, unless you include the 1911 in the mix.
