Kinda stepped away from upland for a number of years but just got myself a German Shorthair pup and plan on getting out again. My favorite upland gun was my Benelli Ultralight in 12 guage but sadly none seem to be around for purchase. I may consider something else while I wait. Whats your go to shotgun? Im tossing around the idea of a Browning Cynergy Field 20 g....was fondling it at Prairie guntraders..very nice!!

Cheers!!

I have been using a Remington 1100 Sporting 28 for upland birds for a few years now and love it. But as my wife has laid claim to it, I have just ordered myself a Benelli Ethos in 28 ga.
Should be here soon, just in time for some practice before the season starts!

For the past several years it has been my 12 gauge Lovena sidelock SxS with 28” barrels. I have lighter guns but at 6 pounds 7 oz it’s not heavy. However I have been shooting two new to me guns this spring that may take over. One is a 20 gauge Browning Superposed 20 gauge from 1953 with 26” barrels. Can’t believe how well it handles. And the other is a 28 gauge Francotte SxS with 26” barrels and weighing in at 4 pounds 9 oz.

The upcoming season will be interesting.

My buddy has two Stoegers, a side by and an over/under, both 20ga.with removeable chokes and 26" barrels. I know Stoeger has a rather poor rep and maybe under heavy use like competition, they may not stand up but they've done sterling service for my buddy and put lots of partridge on the table. I picked up the firesight foresights to replace the factory beads and the pick up is fantastic. For the occasional hunter who just does spring and fall shotgunning, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them as a good workman like shotgun.

Between my Dad's old Tobin double 12 ga. and my Savage 24h-DL .22/20ga. Retiring the Tobin, and will use a nice old 1927 Ithaca NID 12 and the Savage. The old Tobin has smoked a lot of Prairie Chicken, Ruffed Grouse and Huns over the years, as has the Savage.

I have a 12 gauge Franchi Rennaisance that weighs a tad over 6 lbs and is nice to carry and fits me well. I also have an old beater FEG sxs that I shoot well and lastly a Parker I take out occationally when I feel nostalgic.

I haven't upland game hunted since 1978 when I lived in Alberta... but my favorite was a Belgium 16 gauge side by side, double triggers, extractors and a Beaver tail forend. Bought at Hudson Bay in Calgary in the early 60's. Originally it was 30 inch full and full with chokes 6 inches long. I altered it to 25 or 26 inch and improved cylinder/modified. Sold it out here in BC about 1980.
