What's your favourite .22 ammo?

It's a very wide open question. Depends on what you gonna use your 22 for and from what gun.

Normally, everyone I know for bull's eye use CCI. For cheap plinking and some basic practice, a brick of Blazer will do.

CCI Stingers and Velocitors group like cow pies outta all of our LR's...

Hunting; CCI Mini-Mag HP's
Plinking; CCI Blazers
Casual Targets; CCI Standard Velocity (SV) or Federal 711B
Competition; Wolf Match Target & EPS, and Lapua Center X

Semi's get CCI Mini mag and bolt action gets Remington standard velocity. I have been really enjoying the CCI Quiets and I am looking forward to the segmented hp version.

Whatever I can find that's cheap.
Different 22's around here seem to like different makes.
555's seem to work well.
Federals do okay too.
Blazer are cheap and it shows.

For just messing around plinking - Federal Bulk Pack
More "serious" plinking / shooting games - CCI Blazer
Most serious plinking / accuracy shooting - CCI Minimags (Good for critters), CCI SV, CCI Sub-sonic

The CCI Standard Velocity perform excellently in my 10/22 TD, but they are hard to find. CCI Minimags are probably the best all around for price/availability/accuracy

I have a bunch of CCI Stingers that I want to love, because they seem like they hit hard, but their accuracy seems to be all over the place, like 5"+ groups at 50yards. It also feels like there are powder inconsistencies in them sometimes.

Federal Champion 40gr LRN shoot well in my rifle too, but at about the same price, the CCI Blazers outperform them. Have had nothing but poor results with any Winchester ammo I've tried especially the Xpert HV bulk pack, which is probably the most horrible 22lr ammo I've ever tried in any rifle.

So far, the only real problem I've had is with Remington Thunderbolts. They leaded up my 10/22 TD terribly in ~100 rounds. My 10/22's with BC 25 round steel lip mags function fine on everything else. I found the 50 round Bulldog drum mags don't feed hollow points well at all, but function fine on any 40gr round nose ammo like Blaser or American Eagle so I try to stock up on them whenever they are on sale.

A note on LR ammo; Our semi's are the most "function finicky" (typical), our bolts tend to be the most accurate (with preferred ammo), our levers get fed any "left-overs" that won't shoot in the semi's and isn't accurate in the bolts... basically the levers eat at a cheap Chinese buffet... long rifle bok choy for breakfast, lunch and supper...

I see a lot of people like the Winchester 333/555 and Dynapoint. I have found it to be last choice bottom of the barrel, especially in any tighter chambers.Blazers and Fed 525 have been the best consistent bulk ammo I have found in my 10/22s. CCI mini mag, SS and SV have proven foolproof at about twice the price. I stock lots of 525 bulk, and working on stocking up the CCI before it is all gone for a year or more. I may be part of the problem, but it won't be MY problem ;)
