What's your go-to grouse hunting setup?

Rossi Tuffy Turkey gun in 410. Got a cheap red dot on it. Tell you what, most fun since sliced bread!

Finally got out on Friday, and it was a Banner Day!
Been working lots lately, so happy to slip away for a hunt and the weather cooperated!
First bird was even a nice wingshot.
Shooting a damascus barreled Greener from 1901.

Such a wonderful time of the year for both the scenery and hunting opportunity.
Not to mention the added benefit of a mental health recharge from a year of work that is behind and getting ready for the days ahead.
Thanks for sharing the day(s)

This year, my shotgun of choice was my 1963 Superposed Lightning. I cooked up some bismuth handloads, and I have to say that it performed perfectly on my trip to Saskatchewan. Birds could have been a little more plentiful, but the ones that were around behaved pretty well, and we managed to get a really fun shoot on some Canadas over decoys, a first for me.

22, 410, 12. often carry a combo 12g/7x57r when out for upland game; gives me some additional clout should a bear or some charismatic macrofauna wander by. ps, german shepherds are terrible bird dogs.
Not always when I was a kid 100 years ago Niagara was a pheashant meca my friend had a farm and a German shephard that was a stellar bird dog. We shot tons of roosters over that dog we even had a beagle that retrived birds with zeal. We where eager young kids .Nothing is cast in stone

When cruising with the side by side this year I only used a Bow for grouse, no noise and just as good of results as a 22lr out to 30 yards. YMMV :)

I normally carry a full belt. Just because!

Smart man... I usually only carried 6-7 birdshots on me (and 2x slugs) when walking my bird-loops (2-3km, usually) with more ammo waiting with the truck/motorcylee

I think life wanted to teach me a yesterday... as I was talking with the wife/friends about how I'd only met 2x game warden while hunting in the last 40 some years...

You guessed it, 1st thing in the morning. Bumped into some game wardens doing some spot checks (it was the last weekend for moose). They were a friendly bunch, wanted to know if I had my license and the shotgun unloaded... some small talk about the setup for the shotgun case and I was on my way.

A Short time after walking a timberjack trails... started with 6x birdshots (because eh! I seldom see morenthan 1 or 2 birds on any given walk)... got 3x birds, missed 2... got back to the bike with one spare... I think I'll increase my ammo count ... just because ;)

H&R Tamer 20g - first gun I ever bought, will be passed on to my daughter to hunt grouse with.

Henry 410 - first trip out was Friday, hit every bird it was pointed at.
