Is there a gun you have or had that you never thought you'd ever get? I'm not talking about impulse buys but a gun that you bashed or simply disliked but than suddenly changed your mind? and what was it that made you but it?

I'll go first;

Steyr M9 - no longer have one, saw threads on it before and thought they were ugly as hell and never saw myself getting one. than walked into a gun store and it was there! impressed me a bit too. So I got it. (kinda disappointed me at the end)

CZ 75. same thing, thought they were fugly, I liked the ergonomics but it wasn't enough. Than I saw one is polished stainless! drool! Own one now :D

AR-15.
I was always the walnut stock guy.
I thought AR's were silly.......until I held one. They are popular for a reason and the upgrades and customizing makes them very unique and fun to tinker with.

I was never anti-glock but I never had any particular interest in them.

Then one day I realized: I like power. And if there's one thing the Glock 20 does, it's power.

I think the 9mm glocks are more reliable, but I think the 20 is probably next in line. But this is based more on the opinions of people that know more than I do than on my own experience.

Anyway, the Glock is a good pistol. It will never QUITE warm my heart like a 1911 but the 10mm is sufficiently idiosyncratic to give the G20 at least a LITTLE bit of soul. For some reason I do not bond with guns unless they are great weapons with a couple of weird quirks to work around. I would use a G19 as a carry piece, but I would never love it. That's why I never thought I would own a Glock...functional but no love.

But now I do, and it's a good gun.

While I like how Glocks shoot for me I just don't like the look. Especially when I can get the same results from other guns. Plus the grip of the Glock just feels too blocky. So I don't have and don't plan on ever getting a Glock unless it's literally given to me.

Oddly enough for those that find the CZ 75's to be ugly I'm the other way. I really like the look of the 75 and to a slightly lesser extent the SP-01. And since they shoot like a house on fire I'm more than happy to have my 75 and Shadow as the central members of my semi auto handgun stable.

2" Colt Cobra. I never saw any point in owning a popgun, until I ended up being one of the few who can legally own one. Now I make a habit of picking up every bargain priced prohib revolver I take a liking to. I'm patiently waiting for a 3", .357 S&W.

My Glock experience is much like some other's. I still have mixed feelings about my Glock 20, but I'd probably grab it, if the chips were down. My only reservation stems from a stovepipe jam that my son experienced. I hope it was an ammunition problem(Win. silvertip).

The Ruger alloy-framed P pistols.

While the gun mags raved about them (yeah they have to support their advertisers), and many users extolled their accuracy and reliability, these pistols never caught my eye like 1911s did. Disgustingly, hideously ugly doesn't begin to describe my feelings.

Well, a P90 (45 acp) was one of 3 pistols involved in a trade for my Mini30. I really did like the other two. One surprisingly pleasant evening at the range later, I not only liked the feel of the P90, but confirmed the reliability and accuracy that I've read about. The DA and SA trigger was decent if not good and I was growing to like its looks.

So about 6 months later, I got its cousin look-alike P89 (9mm) in another trade. :dancingbanana:

Beretta 92 Inox, I always really liked them but never thought about getting one because they seemed so expensive. Last summer I finally decided to get one and I am sure glad I did! Now looking back I realize the price really wasn't that bad after all.

a glock. I always was fond of revolvers and figured if I was ever going to get any semi-auto pistol it would be one of two: sig 226 or beretta 92fs, but when I saw the g17 RTFs insanely cheap, I had to check it out in more detail. As I read more and more about their insane reliability and held one, I was happy I made the choice.

Never did think they were ugly though :p then again I like the look of Bullpup rifles and am not insanely fond of the M4 platform look, and a lot of people think I'm crazy for that.

Walther P38. I do not collect german stuff. BUT a friend had one at a gun show for a really good price. I still haven't made up my mind whether I like it, but I bought the thing.

Glock? I had one for a week, and just did not feel comfortable with it, so I traded it off. I really am uncomfortable with a pistol that doesn't have a safety. And PLEASE don't tell me that little thingy in the trigger is a safety. Might be allright for a military weapon.
Now I can only wait for the screams of enraged glock owners.

Thought I'd never own....

Llama Super Commanche 6 shot double action wheelgun in .357 Mag with 8 3/8" barrel.

Bought back in the day when you could buy a handgun in the morning and be on the range shooting it in less than 1 hour.

Bought it on an impulse. Shot a couple boxes through it then traded it back to the dealer for something else. I swear 1/2 dozen guys owned that gun in less than a month. [With the dealer making $$ on every trade-in/up].

Wonder where it is today?

NAA.

mine was an IWI Baby Eagle polished chrome in 9mm
I bought it BNIB in an impulse buy for a good deal in AB
have trouble to shoot straight with the first round...pistol need a good profesional re-align of the fixed sights
lot of headaches also with the trigger which pinch my finger every time when is released for DA pull (have to wear gloves)
tried to exchange it for another one, but loosing to much time waiting for restocking/new order ... I have to sell.
I'll never bite again for a lemon like this one with IWI made logo
