What's your LONGEST connecting shot on a deer

Last fall's 4 x 5 mule buck. On the run (fast trot) 430 - 450 yrds right through the nose just below the eyes. Ruger M77 30-06 165 gr Hornady SST's,46 gr of H4895. One lucky shot.

Been some years now, but i shot a doe across the end of the lake. It cam out on a point, roughly half way across the end. I knew the lake width from the top sheet, as I'd been practicing on a target on the far shore at 600 yards. (Doing poorly I might add)
The rifle, a 6.5X55 Swedish Mauser, with issue sights, was On at 300, without moving up the sight ladder. She dropped on the first shot.
That old Mauser is a very accurate rifle, but, my 600 yard shooting revealed that it is no long range number. I think the 300 yard shot was about it's limit. I had practiced at 400, in an old gravel pit, but it was no hell there either.
At 300 it would generally hold within six inches.
Today, I find the sights hard to see. Getting old sucks.

My longest connecting and "deadly" one shot was on an elk, which is in the deer family. So I guess I should include it. It was 424 yards on a 5x5 bull elk using a 7mm Mag - 170 gr. Speer Grand Slam, scope was a Leupy straight 6x with a poplar branch for a rest. Rifle was a Winchester M70. We didn't get home till 4:00 am, as I shot it at last light....duhhhh. :) Needless to say, horses were pissed at me and therefore got a good share of oats that day.

The longest shot I made on any game was about 350 yds across a swamp into a moose. The deer were closer, around 200 to 250 yds. I have always had the time to get closer and make a good shot or the critters presented themselves closer to me.:D

Just over 200 yards (my buddy says longer but I don't think it was). It was a medium sized doe with a .270 from a Browning BBR using 130 grain Barnes Triple Shock X bullet. She dropped like a rock.

Last season 541 yard on a whitetail doe it was witness by mad_mikee with my Winchester Model 70 Classic in 270WSM with a 130 grain TSX

I've shot waterfowl further than any deer I've shot lol! Been fortunate to drop all my deer in 30 yards or less. Hunt in Bancroft, so there is no room for long shots. Hopefully this fall I can drop a huge moose at a good distance with my new 300 wsm T3 Lite
