What's your minimun for a mount?

I don't think that the score is that important. A deer can have very nice rack and not score that well. It's about the memories of the hunt.
As far as the type of mount, it's a personal preference issue. Do want you want. Don't let someone else tell you what you should do.

Ive only got one deer head mount.

It was shot in Manitoba with some of the greatest people one could hunt with.

He was kinda big, but the hunt, and the time spent there, was, and always will be greater.:D

Do you find that they are looking right at you no matter where you stand? :D

Have you ever seen any of the religious paintings done by Count Berthold Von Imhoff? He was a Germain painter that immigrated to West Central Saskatchewan (Near St Walburg) in the early 1900's. He painted the interiors of dozens of Catholic Churches all over region and the one thing that stands out is that it doesn't matter where you stand the eyes of the people depicted on the frescoes seem to be looking right at you. Having grown up going to mass in Churches painted by Count Imhoff I have gotten used to inanimate obects looking at me. LoL

You asked for opinions.
My opinion is I would never have a deer head mounted.
The European method of whitened skull on a tasteful, shaped board, is a much better way to go.

My thoughts exactly.

My African mounts are in my garage. For me to mount a deer head AND put it in my house it would have to be Boone and Crockett at least.

Pics these pics off the net a few yrs ago. I'd like to have one.

I've got lots of stuff mounted, I enjoy looking at them and they bring back memories of my hunts and the times I shared with friends and family. I kind of set a 150" mark for whitetails but everything else was on a case by case or $$$$ basis. I don't know what I'll do with all the mounts once I've moved into a small place but for now they're a nice reminder of my hunting career. Trophy sizes have never been a big part of hunting for me, but they're nice when you're lucky enough to get one.

I'm gonna go Hunting for the first time ever in november....If I get anything I'm gonna mount it because it will remind me of my first hunt ever!, and even better I'm goin up with my dad and three uncles. I'm pretty excited for the memories of that, so hopefully I get something!!!!!

I like skull mounts and i like head/shoulder mounts. I think that the skullplate style mounts look horrible, especially if they use one of those red or green "leather" covers and some horrid plaque.

Animals that I have gotten taxidermist mounted are usually very memorable hunts, or interesting animals (like owls or bobcats)

I don't have a set "score" that I would get something mounted....

Hello all,

I was thinking what would be my minimum score before I got a whitetail mount. For me I was thinking that it would have to be in the B&C record books before I got one done. My reasoning is just because its dam expensive to get the game heads mounted.

How about you, whats your minimum

I've killed 8 whitetails in the 160's and 2 in the 170's and haven't mounted any of them, not even on a wooden plaque. I guess that I haven't killed one, let alone see one with the minimum score that I want to mount..................190 to 200 B&C, probably never will in my lifetime.

I can't say I have a minimum. If it was a good size deer that looked good it may find itself on my wall. I do like the european mounts too though.

On a side note does anyone know roughly what it costs to do a european mount?
