X2!. I can't get past the Euro styling of the stock. Hogsback comb, semi-circular grip, and that dreadful excuse for a cheekpiece... bleh! All they need to do is go and look at a pre-war Mauser or Mannlicher to see how to do it right.

I don't know, the CZ550 is a nice rifle but is it 2100$ nice ? PR had a new sako 85 in 375 H&H for 2200$ just before Xmas. I do get that it costs them more to bring in the cz550 now, just wondering if it's still a good value for the money at that price point.
I picked up a CZ550 magnum "lux" in 375 very recently and I find the stock is comically wide. I was trying to save a few bucks over buying a 375 HH barrel for my sauer 404 (yeah another one of those threads) but even at clearance price just the barrel was over 2k.
Any idea if the bell and carlson stocks are slimmer ? The current stock is so unwieldy I honestly can't ever see myself picking the CZ magnum for a hunt over the 9.3x62 FS which has the older, slimmer profile.

We actually have a couple more coming in 6 weeks or so. The two listed have better walnut than what we've been seeing on them though. We are taking every one we can get- but we've had to get in the USA, making them more expensive
We have a couple in .416 Rigby coming too but they are the fancy walnut ones and they will be over 3K.

It's my favourite design bar none. It provides an excellent cheek weld for use of irons. I don't see an issue with using glass either. It might be my technique has adapted. I also think they're a thing of beauty. Different strokes for different folks.
PS. I also love the stock design on Brno 21's... Hoyt affectionately refers to the pancake cheekpiece as tumorous growths.
Not sure if this is considered a Lux but IMHO the hogback stocked rifles are meant to be used with their express sights, which work very well for me. I do have a Leupold 1.5x5 in QD Warne QD rings for this carbine but it generally stays off. If I hunt I have better, lighter hunting rifles with better glass.
The stock is wide but at the back end it has to be but you benefit from the large capacity magazine. For a working camp rifle, capacity is a good thing.

I have a CZ550 in 416 Rigby. It is an excellent shooter and is pleasing to the eye. I don't find it bulky but then I am a big guy, just fits me nice. The fit and finish was excellent out of the box. Only thing I recall was the action was a little stiff, so I oiled it up and worked it steady through a few football games then it was fine.
I don't think you could go wrong with a CZ, beautiful, well made, and accurate.

A CZ 557 Lux 2 in 8x57 and a CZ 557 Sporter in 308 (walnut) are on the way to me. They will nicely compliment my CRF Brno 21H in 7x57 and my Brno Effect 308 single shot stalking rifle. So much for retirement downsizing!!

I know what you mean, my Brno 21 feels downright dainty in my hands in comparison to my 2013 made Brno Effect! Funny though, the Brno Effect has a palm swell and it fits me perfectly.

Not sure how the "new" 550 lux would compare to my 550 Magnum, maybe it is thick.
Although standing next to me, from your description (grins), you would still be on the smaller side.
