What's your powder to reload 45 Colt?

800X, Red Dot and Unique are all flake powders. Some powder throwers will not handle flake powders. The Lyman 55 does.

Universal is a medium speed powder (similar in speed to Unique and Power Pistol) that can be loaded down a bit or up to almost full power. It burns clean and meters well.

My 45 colt handload is 16 gr of 2400 under a 250 gr nosler jhp. This was my carrying load when i had a permit to carry my saa on the trapline 30 years ago. 7.2 gr unique under a cast 230 gr bullet shot to the same point of impact for small game. The 2400 load will penetrate the average black bear from end to end.

HI; tightgroup is good for medium or strong loads, it burns well but not at low pressure levels. Red dot is better for Cowboy action or soft loads, try 250 grain bullets and red dot for Cowboy or Wild bunch. Some good load already posted.

For light .45C I use 8 grains of 800-X. It meters surprisingly well from a Dillon thrower and the chrony numbers show it to be a very consistent load.

Unfortunately i have not had good luck with Universal in 38 Special with 158gr SWC. Lots of unburned powder. I suspect it is not good for loads on the low end because no problems with 357 Magnum.
