Did anyone have a 18.75 or 20 inch with a A2 Front Sight Block? I'm thinking of doing that set up, I'd like to get a 13 inch Stag handguard, a quad rail if possible

I thought about taking the ACOG off of my AR (Daniel Defense Mk18), but I just won't be doing that much tactical shooting with my Stag 10, so I'm going with a conventional 3x9 or 4x12 scope.

The problem, however, is that if you go with too much magnification it's almost impossible to use on semi-auto because the gun moves too much to keep it on target at much more than 6x.

I used to have a Browning BAR in 30.06, and I really found it challenging with a conventional scope to get a few rounds off and still be on target.

That said, I don't think the ACOG's 3-4x is enough to do serious hunting shots from 200-300m in tricky conditions when a deer is on the line.

I'd really love something in a fixed 5-6 optic, and the only real product is an ACOG TA468 but it's really heavy and way out of my range at $3000-$4000.

If anyone else knows of a fixed 5-6x range scope that straddles the line between tactical and conventional, please let me know.

Some nice rigs but I've always thought 1" tubes look a little funny on an AR10 for some reason.

Unless you're doing extreme high-end shooting competitions, 30mm is overkill for 99% of applications and just adds cost and weight for no reason.

It's like shooting someone with a 44 magnum and someone else saying they'd be more dead with a 500 S&W.

A 1" tube is just fine for the vast majority of applications that any normal shooter is going to put it through.

Your sight alignment will be off with the Stag-10 if you use a A2 style FSB. I’ve searched and searched and the only manufacturer that makes a AR-10 specific A2 sight is Armalite on thier LE carbines.

Fixed front sight options are very limited on the DPMS G1 pattern and Armalite AR-10 patter rifles.

The F marked ones should work, they are higher than the non ones if I'm not mistaken

I've been pondering one of those a friend has for sale. Do you hunt with it?
haven't handled it yet so hoping it's rugged enough for bushwacking

I have two of the 3-9x40 Sightron S1 series scopes, not on Stag10's but on a bolt 308 and 50 cal muzzle loader, never had an issue with either in 3 years of use in the bush. I use the exact same load for the 308 each year and I have yet had to adjust the zero between years. Easily minute of twoonie with the 308 and minute of pie plate with the ML.

Yup, I agree with that.

Trijicon has a better 8x reticle, cheaper and double the weight!

Nx8 bad 8x red dot (way to big), pricey but not horrible, half the weight.

The other contender is the Leupold Mark 6, nice reticle, light, combat tested! (Pricey like the ATACR)

The ATACR is nice but hard to describe, it fits a “role” 100% look through one before buying!!!

Did a lot of research on these.... in the end went higher end rifle and gear first and picked up an amazing deal on a PST gen 2 1-6x

If I had to pic one I’d go NX8(cost to weight) or the mark 6 (if money wasn’t an issue) yes over the ATACR.

8 Oz difference between the Trijicon and NX8. Not sure where you are getting double the weight from ? NX8 is listed at 17oz and Trijicon is listed at 25oz.

Either way they are both good choices, but my wallet didnt have enough hundos to get the NX8.

Ix - I havent had the chance to look thru a NX8 yet, But Ive had a few Nightforce scopes in the past and they have great glass.

My bad the weight was with the mount in the Trijicon. It’s still a beast with its 34mm tube!!!

It is one of my favourite reticles though almost a red dot when 1x and a MRAD within the donut of death on 8x

Still really wanna look through the Elcan 1-3-9x though with the recent price drop at $2200 with a built in mount could be a steal.

These optics are definitely not for lightweight builds...lol. But I find my Stag 10 balances better with the extra weight of the scope. Im at 11.6lbs fully loaded. witch sucks since shes 8.4Lbs empty... lol...
