Whats your Stag 10 optics/sighting setup?

Tactical in the sense of quick bullet drop compensation, but hunter optics for long distance, and "decently" light is the Nikon P308.
Pretty cheap for what you get. No lighted reticle though.
4-12 x 40. 17.5oz weight.
With the front weight of my Stag 10, and bipod, the target stays surprisingly in my scope within 8x or so.
Glass is so clear, I manage an extra 45 minutes of hunting in the evening vs my old scope that came on my savage.

Honestly, I could have used an extra inch of height on my mounts though, the charging handle is pretty close to the scope. (Raptor handle soon, next time they are on sale)

I thought about taking the ACOG off of my AR (Daniel Defense Mk18), but I just won't be doing that much tactical shooting with my Stag 10, so I'm going with a conventional 3x9 or 4x12 scope.

The problem, however, is that if you go with too much magnification it's almost impossible to use on semi-auto because the gun moves too much to keep it on target at much more than 6x.

I used to have a Browning BAR in 30.06, and I really found it challenging with a conventional scope to get a few rounds off and still be on target.

That said, I don't think the ACOG's 3-4x is enough to do serious hunting shots from 200-300m in tricky conditions when a deer is on the line.

I'd really love something in a fixed 5-6 optic, and the only real product is an ACOG TA468 but it's really heavy and way out of my range at $3000-$4000.

If anyone else knows of a fixed 5-6x range scope that straddles the line between tactical and conventional, please let me know.

Lots of positive reviews. If it would of been availible before I got my Trijicon I probbaly would of gotten it

I really like most everything about the Primary arms Platinum 1-8 except that it is limited as a hunting optic. The reticle is calibrated as a tactical optic. I not really suited for hunting. At least not the holdovers, or for a running animal. I guess the Griffon reticle with the mil dot setup could be used for hunting as well. What is your take on it?

I use an eotech exps 2-0 (qd model) and a set of troy battlesights for most of the shooting I do. If I need magnification I have a viper pst 2.5-10x44 with the EBR-1 reticle in a burris p.e.p.r. qd mount I swap in.

I was considering the PA 1-8 platinum or the Burris xtr II 1-8 as well but the one thing I didn't like is the reticle is based on a 100y zero. WTF.
Even the vortex strike eagle 1-8 I had worked from a 50-200 zero and that makes infinitely more sense.

So yeah after some though and debate I am going to go with a leupold vx5hd in 2-10x42 cds.
