3 (1) A person must not manufacture or import wheel weights containing more than 0.1% lead by weight, except in accordance with a permit issued under section 5.

took a look at the info and its sure a long form, it seems we can manufacture lead wheel weights if they are for export, by chance are they manufactured in Quebec?
 
Glad I have LOTS of old WW which are lead ( or high content) . Collected in 1988 to 2008
at local CTC. More than I will ever need.
 
We were told about this coming down the pike about 25 years ago. Most of WW in Europe have been non-lead for about 20 years. I started collecting in the late 80's and early 90's and at that time you could walk into a tire store and they were more than willing to give you all their WW's because at that time the recyclers were actually charging the tire shops to haul them away. Now unless you know the owner personally the tire shops will give you the BS that "we are not allowed to sell WW to anyone other than recyclers."

I have two lifetime supply myself but I still keep my eyes open and ask when ever I walk into a tire shop. Had my WW's tested about 3 years ago for content as well as my lyman #2 mix, 40 to 1 mix and 20 to 1 mix and I am right on the money with no unexpected ingredients.
 
I've got more than I need for myself for the rest of my life : )

This is not new and was announced years ago, if you have not stocked up yet you better start now since there are still lots of cars with lead weights on it driving around.

The yield of lead vs steel and zinc weights is already less than a few years ago and it also depends what shop you get your weights from.
Skip the big places like CT, they won't sell it to you, smaller tire shops work best.
Offer slightly more for it than the scrap metal places do and bring a box of donuts after a good haul, that will get you the future business.
It won't take too long to gather a lifetime supply this way.
 
Bummer, I’ve been grabbing any and all I can find anywhere I go. Think I have brought home 13-15 five gallon pail’s since late ‘21 till now, part of the fun is the hunt, small town garages are the best. I was down in the Kootenays last winter and the local shop had three pails they gave me for free.
