Wheeler Cerama-Coat Finish

Decided I would give this product a try. Not cheap for a can, but the FDE came out great on my Canik. I walnut blasted the slide, sanded with steel wool lightly, decreased using acetone and baked at 300DegF for 60 minutes. Wheeler recommends 30 for metal, but I read online to do it for 60 and it will harden “better.” Time will tell how durable it will be, but after this weekends pistol course the original finish on the Canik was wearing in the expected holster contact spots.

Not a huge deviation from the tan, but I like the contrast.

It looks like Cerakote in a can. I set up a Cerakote for my tax refund this year. I like working on rifles as much as shooting. I even cook my Cerakote for a bit longer than is quoted I basically turn of the oven at the end of the baking cycle and let it cool down in the oven its an epoxied reaction so the extra time shouldn't hurt it.
I quite like the tan contrasts I did a Cooey shotgun in two tone Magpul dark earth and tan stock with black working parts I turned out quite sharp.
