Check out each others ( legit) PAL and the seller should have the rifles registration.
Seller will call the CFC and begin transfer of ownership and let the buyer know that it's started.
Then , the buyer will make a call to the CFC to confirm.
If it's stolen the Mounties will know.
*It's quicker if the seller and buyer are together to make the call.

The way it normally works in the EE:
1) Buyer and seller come to an agreement on price, shipping, etc.
2) Buyer sends money, either by EMT, MO or other agreed method.
3) When seller gets payment, he calls the CFC and begins transfer.
4) Seller contacts buyer with transfer reference number and then buyer calls CFC and completes the transfer.
5) Buyer lets seller know transfer is complete and the seller ships the gun.
If the gun is legally registered and transfered to you it is not stolen or anything else, as the CFC checks and transfer process will screen for all of that.

Over 2 billion dollars worth of ill spent money makes sure that you as a legal, licenced and rediculously abused gun owner can not possibly buy a firearm that was ever used in a crime.
On the other hand if you go to any of the major cities and more than a few of the smaller ones you can very easily get your hands on a firearm that is neither legal or registered, at greatly reduced cost and with less hassles I might add.

Yes, you're correct! But that individual would only do it once on here and he/she would be history. You could also request the Ser # from the seller and contact the CFC explaining you are acquiring the FA and to confirm the registry of the FA.
There are hundreds of transactions on the EE forums of all manner of merchandise that don't go sideways. I guess there can and will be few that defy the odds!! Cheers

That is correct. Make sure you have a paper trail on the money being sent just in case. I only deal with sellers that have a number of positive feedbacks and a solid reputation. So far, so good. As always, buyer beware and do your homework.
