When did Federal start date stamping shells?

I've got some Federal brass in various sizes, none of which is dated. Recently I found a Federal 300 Win Mag shell on the ground, it is headstamped "FC 18", when did Federal start this? Is it across the board?

One of the American special forces have been know to use 300 win mag to reach out and touch.

Yep, 300 WM is used in quite a few sniper units and is in inventories in the US areseal.

I have federal brass dated with 08. Different calibers started at different times depending on when they changed the head stamp die. Non military brass.

New ammunition expires after two or three years you will need to use it up or buy new............ check the back of the box. The export date must be there somewhere.......

The ammo I’ve shot dating from 1965, 1984, 1993 and 1995 would beg to differ.
