When did they change the bolt design on the X-bolt

Are you sure you are not looking at the AB3? I cant see the pics but the way you describes as only 1 side flat with round bolt is the AB3. As far as I know, all current xbolts sans the pro(difference bieng he fluting and handle) are the same.

Not the AB3 made sure was an X-bolt, hope you can see the pic now, it has the bolt button release on the bolt.

Def an xbolt...looks like they stopped machining the last step. The side that was previously machined rides on the round part of the bolt track so makes sense that they would be able to leave it out. Would probably make less play while working the bolt as it would fit the bolt track better. Good eyes!

I did go and look at a new ones bolt. Only one flat side vs the 3 flats on the older ones. Bolt is smoother.

Well, now you've gone and done it. Checked my X-Bolt Eclipse Hunter in 30.06, I see the bolt has 3 flats, and is therefore obsolete. It matters not that the thing always cycles perfectly, gotta dump it and get one of those newer puppies.
