I am wondering when whitetail season comes to an end in alberta, I will be moving to calgary next thursday 1st of dec and am hoping to be able to get some hunting done before the season is closed.
What other big game hunting would there be or does it all end at the same time?
thanks for any info J-C

There is a special archery/shotgun season in 212 (Calgary and area) in December if you can miraculously find landowner permission inside the zone, but outside city limits.

Resident - a person who either

1 has his or her only or primary residence in Alberta and
is a Canadian citizen or is admitted to permanent residence in Canada, or
has lived in Canada for the 12-month period immediately preceding the relevant date; or
2 is on full-time service with the Armed Forces of Canada and would, if an election were held under the Elections Act (Canada), be eligible to vote in Alberta under that Act

As a non res canadian he could hook up with an Albertan "hunter -host" but he's pretty much hooped for '05. Good luck next year and Welcome to Ralphy's house.

thanks guys for the info , I am not to clear on the resident issue I am a canadian citizen and have been all my life does this mean I am able to hunt coyotes this winter with a host and gophers in the spring
I am moving there permanently as a citizen so I will probably only be able to hunt alone in 12 months, what about my guns can I bring them and be able to leagaly be a member of a shooting range I sure hope so.

As far as I know, there is no 12 month requirement as a resident.I posted the definition of a resident in a previous post and can find no information other than you must be a resident to buy resident licenses. If there is a time requirement, can someone post the actual regulation here.

Dude for hunting regs check out www.albertaoutdoorsmen.ca the whole rag is online as well as lotsa other good stuff. Moving your guns is a fed matter whether across country or down the road. If its gophers ye be after,pm me when ya get here, we have a farmer friend an hour east of town who is always looking for help to keep the rats down and man is he over-run. The Rosebud silhouette range will be taking new members in 06 I'm a member and I think it's A-1. P.S. if you drive out here you'll have a bigger hassle with your vehicle than your guns. All the best, Iain.

I think I will call cfc tomorrow morning to see if I need some kind of permit to travel my guns cross country as I am driving there with my truck.
savagefan I will get in contact with you after I arrive in calgary I gota get out to shoot gophers in the spring so if your friend needs help thining them out I have a nice custom built 22br that is waiting to shoot more than just paper, we dont have to many gophers in N-B.

If you don't have too many gophers in N-B it's because you got the work done, guess we're lazy out here, tons to shoot. Look forward to hearing from you ,happy trails.

I wouldnt mind someone showing me the slhouette site to me as I love shooting my 10/22T. I am going to try and join the APRA at the beginning of next year. $150 bucks for Rosebud is it?

D_

Wow $150 to join a range , glad to see someone is charging what it is worth ,me and a few buddys have just finished building a 615 metre range last year. We only charge $50 a year membership which is double what the other local ranges charge but we supply targets.
We are not making money just trying to make enough to do the maintenance .
I called cfc and the guy said there was no problem trucking my guns across the country so long as they were trigger locked cased you have your registration for each gun and you carry no ammunition.
By the way is there a lot of coyotes or just a lot of gophers in alberta we had a lot of coyotes in N-B the past 10 years but they seem to be going away now after they killed most of the deer population.

Rosebud new rates are $150 single, $195 family and $10 for club-house key. D give me a shout in Jan. should be able to set something up. Yep coyote there's a lot of 'yotes here.
