I've been waiting to see what the schedule is for Cedar Springs. Thought I'd drop by and have a look see, but I can't find any dates.

Anyone from the ORA or Cedar Springs Rifle Club know anything? Maynard?

Thx.

Yep, see Syxx15's link. Victoria day weekend May 19, 20, 21. Barracks are available Saturday and Sunday night for $15 per night. There is no bedding at Cedar Springs, so bring a pillow and sleeping bag. A good set of ear plugs are also suggested.

recommended? should be mandatory in the barracks... Tom :dancingbanana:

I'm still toying with the idea of shooting Victoria day. I've got my head around the fact you have to shoot it because it's one of the grand agg qualifiers.

I think I need to shoot it because it's a competition which involves a good deal of the longer yardages, I need all the long range shooting I can get and it's also Connaught which helps to set you up for the Aug fun and games. That would be my reason now for going... more wind and mirage stuff.

John,
I never could figure out why a NCRRA (now NDHQRA) match was part of the Ont Agg. Not all NCRRA (NDHQRA) members are ORA members. It is like holding the Mons Club Championship at Cedar Springs.

I do agree that Connaught is a true range when it comes to reading wind and mirage. It is just the winds in May can be around the freezing mark, with variable sleet, rain and snow flurries. Not to worry John, the snow is a good indicator of wind direction and replaces mirage at around 1 degree C.:p

Have fun in Ottawa, don't let Leo get under your skin:cool:

variable sleet... nice!...

well just found out no long range matches in Ottawa Victoria day weekend... due in part to a cockup with grass-seed?

John,
I don't think the match is cancelled, just limited to 600 yards.
I just heard about the mounds of mud and grass seed myself. I heard the duck and geese are eating the grass seed as fast as they can put it down:rolleyes::shotgun: :shotgun: :shotgun: :shotgun: :shotgun: :shotgun: Maybe some indoor/outdoor carpet would work better.
Cedar Springs could be very busy that weekend. Book early.

no it's not cancelled, don't want anyone thinking that but the yardages are cut short...

I have dibs on your campsite #267... does it have running water, electricity and showers? Is there a firepit? Where's the closest 7/11? I'm bringing the big tent... you guys can bet on how long it'll take me to erect it as usual... any rules about hammering pegs into the ground?

This event is still a go. Who plans on attending? One day? Two days? All three days?
Come on guys I really want to see all these 1/4 MOA Savage's and 700P's. If you are shooting .308 I can even supply some 7.62 DA or IVI for free. PM me for details.

How about a "FREE AMMO" match??? Best score of 10, misfires dont count. Or maybe misfires should count double??

Maynard,
I would be pleased to spend the weekend at Cedar Springs, but I have a date with the precision shooters at Mons on Sunday, and a date with the good luck charm on Saturday. Too bad about the NCRRA (NDHQRA) and their tournament in Ottawa.

The only good thing about DA and IVI is that is goes bang every time. Where it hits the target is another story. Most will hit around the bull, but sometimes you get a wide 4(almost a 3) for no reason. I'm all for a friendly match with some issued ammo. How about 2&10 at 600 yards on Sunday afternoon?

Sounds good to me. Why don't we make it Sunday and Monday for a match? Have Saturday as a practice and then a match the other days!! This will be a great time to bring out the "ECHO CAN" out of retirement!!!

"ECHO CAN", does that mean you are switching back to F Class:eek: Better bring the Millennium and your shooting jacket for some TR practice.

Hell NO! F-Class is for the older people:p I am bringing down my TR stuff. I plan on shooting TR until Art's age or even older. I can see it now in front of my eyes!!!:dancingbanana:

You guys crack me up. Apparently I'm to busy to make it out, then not owning a firearm any more doesn't help either. Don't ask its a stupid story that should be fixed shortly.

It was a great 3 day shoot. First day and the second day had pretty windy and chilly weather but today was very nice. No rifle, you should of contacted one of us, we could of supplied you with one and ammo!!!

I would liked to have made it out, but I was busy and also ended up sick.
Thanks for the offer on the rifle and ammo, trust me if I thought I could have made it out I'd have been calling someone for a loaner.

We do have a Tikka T3 club rifle in .223. Even if the bolt is on the wrong side for you, I am sure you could have made it work.:)
No one showed up with any of these out of the box, 1/4 MOA Savage rifle I keep hearing about. Even with the offer of free 7.62 ammo there were no takers. I guess no one wants to get any farther away from the target then 100 yards.
